Carrying to work?

Having a good job with great pay and benefits doing something I enjoy is more important to me than carrying a gun at work. Given the fact that I work in a corporate office with keycard entry in a low-crime area, its a risk I'm willing to take.

I'm in a state that doesn't look to kindly on those that carry w/o credentials and I work for a company that has a zero tolerance weapons policy -- so if I did carry, I might as well be drinking on the job too!

No carry at work for me. To and from is my business and not theirs. I wear OWB to and from work. No one has asked yet why when I show up at the office and as I'm leaving my shirt is untucked. :). I take the gun out of the holster in the morning and leave it in my truck. I walk into my office, take my holster off and tuck in my shirt. I reverse the process in the evening.

#1 You have to get a license to carry (unless your State has no carry laws preventing it)...
You also have to take into account your work environment and what you are comfortable doing given the particular situation and circumstance of your job. I prefer to carry all the time even if it means my Kel-Tec P3AT as it works well with both business formal and business casual dress that is required. Go with a Don Hume front holser or a Desantis backholster and you can basically carry in any garment..and with that little firearm it will go anywhere. So just food for thought but the choice is obviously yours and how you feel about risk vs benefits regarding your gut feelings :D Good luck and be safe!

When I pack it is usually a Baretta Tomcat 3032 in ankle for deep carry, and a Taurs PT58 .380 for elsewhere in a high rise from wild bills. If it is to risky in certain places I carry my Masters of Defense CQD Mark 1 Auto, which In all hopes will get me to one of the others in a bad situation.

It is SAD when someone will not allow someone to carry a pocket knife.

When the time for action has come....The time for preperation has past.

My place of employment states that we cannot have anything that is a weapon, and define a weapon as,

"Any device or object capable of causing serious bodily injury or death to another person, including, but not limited to:
-Handguns,
-Shotguns,
-Rifles,
-Automatic, semiautomatic, or other firearm,
-stun guns,
-knives with blades 2 inches in length or more and
-any tool, supply, product or other resource that is used in such a manner that implies it is a weapon." (How many people think this last one would actually stand up in court???)

This is a large department store that sells everything from clothing to tools(Including razor blades, pocketknives, CHAINSAWS, etc.)

-All of that aside, I carry 2 folders, both of them well over the 2-inch limit mandated by company policy

P.S. They also state this policy is in effect in other locations of the same store, and at all times whether you are "on the clock" or not.

I think that most Fortune 500 companies or those that are well established have guidelines following that of your employment. I guess I can see both sides from the employers to the employees... But in the end I would follow the rules of conduct if I valued my job. Stay Safe.

just to clarify, I have a carry permit...I was just wondering what people carried to work and how.

Our new employee handbook lists as unacceptable conduct "Possession of materials such as...firearms". Disciplinary action up to and including termination.

I can afford to take that risk.

I can't carry at work but, sometimes forget to take my KelTec P3AT out of my back pocket. When I realize that I have it I head back out to the vehicle to secure it. I don't want to flush 27 years down the tubes.

I'm unemployed at the moment, but at anti-gun employers I carried a Taurus PT111 Pro, IWB at 5 o'clock.

I broke the rules on knives, too, but nobody cared about that. I was almost always playing with a knife of some kind while on the phone...
