Just saw this,Anyone know/have thoughts on this AR? I have always wanted a KISS AR based off the M-16A1.

Love the description "Factory New", but yet it's made of M16 parts that have served with the US military and then with our aid recipients overseas and then returned to us in pieces . . .

You can get a brand new AR from CMMG (their "bargain bin") for $599 that'll be a durn sight better than the Century model.

BBB CAI has a spotty reputation because of some real turkeys they produced. Currently I don't think they have anything in their product line getting panned. Their deal is to buy surplus from overseas and refurbish them. My 8mm fn49 came from egypt and the only thing CAI did was put a new stock on it. They didn't do a thing to my yugo mauser except put their import etch on it. My two vz58s has a new receiver and barrel. Google and research this particular gun and make an INFORMED decision.

The advise to check out the CMMG bargain bin is good. Like nalioth but to a lesser degree I am an internet gun junkie and haven't heard of anybody dissatisfied by going that route. Most say they got guns that look unblemished of quality parts.

To the OP; the barrel is non-chromed, the bolt carrier has been milled to semi-auto specs, and the lower is new production. The lower is technically not to spec, its a A2 instead of a correct A1, but the difference requires a retro-AR geek to really care about.

The BCG is the original M16 set, and it's a rifle-length gas system. It's a AR-15, there's really no headspcing required, and it's hard for Century to muck-up, even them. I'd be surprised if you had any issues with it at all.

I own a Century C15 'Sporter' rifle.

Basicaly it's a used Colt M16A2 rifle Century installed new plastic, new HBAR barrel, new springs, and new lower receiver and saftey/trigger mechanism on. Everything else is used Colt M16 parts including the rollpins.

They reground the bolt carrier to a semi-auto style, and basicaly just converted a burst-fire M16A2 into a civilian legal rifle and called it a 'Sporter'....still takes a bayonet and looks like anybody elses AR15 A2 style rifle.

Mine works just fine..eats steel cased ammo like a champ..delivers fine accuracy...and has a heavy barrel..extremely heavy barrel! It's an A2 rifle..the A1 type rifles I've seen from Century were basicaly the same except they appeared to be made from better condition M16A1 rifles and had normal weight barrels. Might not have new plastic furniture either.

If you think of these as brandnew rifles..you might be dissappointed..they ain't new..just rebuilt from used rifles.

If you think of these as a milsurp..you will probably be happy with them. I have heard rumors that Century has these built up for them from parts kits by a third-party.

Mine is just fine..but I did replace the front sling swivel and rivet. It was about worn clean out from being carried as an M16 in some third world country.

If you want an A1 look for a Sendra, those can be found dirt cheap and are about the closest thing you'll find. Google what happened to the company. Barring that, there is a guy in WI I did business with that built beautiful A1 knockoffs that were pretty cheap.
