Usually why most folks will recommend upping the buy-in price to get a beavertail grip safety, and you haven't commented yet, but better sights is always a good option.Big Complaint, Hamer Bit is real!

I’m going to keep this 1911A1 style cosmetics original. It fires just right! But for the insides, going to town on itI bought the duty gun with high profile sights,, and changed the grip, and original 1911 safety, yeah I did keep the original, but been carrying the colt style safety for 50 years and no problems yet.
fired a couple boxes and no problems.
That's why you keep your old partsWinner winner chicken dinnner! This is also a perfect example of why you do not buy used low end 1911s from unknown sources.
the only thing wrong with it is a hammer bit. Well I have now joined the Hammer Bit Club !!! congratulations ME!Yeah, cause even though gun only has a one year warranty, if have to can change back to original and send in.
a old work horse like you like the SDS … that says a bunch about the gun!about the only difference in the standard and carry versions, ambi safety, high profile fixed sights, beavertail grip safety, and am extremely happy with my gun
If I didn’t recently get into black powder and pirate guns. I would buy the SDS enhanced 4.25”yeah well it is everything the old govt guns were not. good sights, good trigger, beavertail grip safety, only thing I did was go to hogue grips, really like those grips, and change the ambi safety to a mil style regular safety.
This old war horse loves his gun now, (I was always prone to hammer bite) so far feeds everything I have put in it, reloads, hollow points everything, and that is something the old guns would never do

I carried / carry a 4.25” STI VIP. And it fit your body just right. I’m not a skinny guy or over weight, just normal, I carried it IWB and it was super comfortable. I’m a proponent the 4.25”While I am averse to buying a made in Turkey firearm I've wanted a commander length 1911 for a while. They look pretty nice & the feedback seems good. The only problem is there are roughly 3 other firearms I am interested in right now & I usually buy a gun about once a year. There are other things I would likely get more use from but I like 1911's & I would be more likely to carry one with than the 5" Ruger I have now.
