Okay, you get to keep everything you already have. You have a sponsor that will buy you one last firearm, regardless of cost. What do you choose?

ETA: Anything legal (including NFA) and/or obscure/hard to find is on the table.

I'm happy with what I have, and unless I'm going to hunt dangerous critters in africa, I don't need anything else. I guess whatever is the most expensive, as an investment.

I would take heavy advantage of this situation. I would find a blue book, look up the most expensive firearm available, get it and then sell it and pay off my house:)

I wasn't looking for getting the most value, more of "what is THE most important gun on your wish list if money or access wasn't a problem". A curiosity of not what you need, not the last gun you would sell, but that one dream gun you don't have yet.

That doesn’t change my answer. My bases are pretty well covered. I do want a short action bolt rifle, and an LC Smith SXS but after that I’m back on the mountain howitzer. I even have a billet of 440 laying around waiting for the day I get a lathe. Mountain Howitzer profile scaled down to about 2/3 with scaled limber, smoothbore 2” golf ball destroying machine. I suspect an ounce of black will move a slazenger packed in newspaper end-roll wadding a hefty distance. Yes I have thought this out a lot, and for a long time.

I wouldn't want it to be my "last" gun...

I'd ask the sponsor to cover my ammo costs!
And then maybe a SAW, or a Ma Deuce, or M240, or M60, just for fun a Mk19 and the property to be able to shoot all of these on!
I’ve already had all of those and would have to say that the Ma Deuce is the most fun to shoot.

Looking at this from a purely “fun” stand point I’d have to say something like a M134. From a practical standpoint, I’d have to say Holland & Holland custom double.

Krieghoff double rifle, all the bells and whistles, standard calibers barrels in 7x57, extra big 5 barrels in .375 h&h, and 20ga.

Ive seen this gun in person, or atleast the 7x57/20ga (since someone else is buying ill take the .375s also).
One of the guys who used to hunt our farm used a full feature krieghoff with 20ga barrels for birds. He never used the 7x57 barrels when we hunted deer, but he always had them along........
He called it his mid life crisis gun.
Amusingly i rember him going head over heals on an old irrigation line and launching that gun about 10ft. Picked it up, dusted it off and went about his business. Asked him later how bad the damage was and he showed me the scratches and said, not bad enough for a trip to the refinishers yet.
That kinda settled the idea of hunting with an expensive gun in my mind.

Definitely something with full auto capability, preferably something belt fed, like an FN M249 SAW or an M1919A6 Browning Machine Gun. Wouldn't mind a Lewis Gun or a BAR if someone else is footing the tab!

@WestKentucky Your answer actually sounds like a lot of fun. My reply was to the ideas of getting the most expensive firearm, and selling it for the cash. While I understand where people are coming from, that was not the direction I was going when I asked
