Colt Gold Cup vs. Kimber Custom Target SS II

I own several Gold Cups, all 70 series. The trigger is very hard to beat. If you are shooting target loads buy the GC if full house I'd go with the Kimber. I believe you will find it holds up better than the GC. If you want a real target gun, look into a Les Baer Premier ll. The one I use for competing has the 1.5" accuracy guarantee. It still holds that level of accuracy after 20yrs and thousands and thousands of rounds.

No reason to buy target loads in the new Gold Cups. And despite being Series 80, the triggers are very good. I doubt many would notice a difference between them and the old 70 Series. I recently pulled the trigger of a new 80 Series GC and a pre-70 Series GC (supposed to be the 'best') and the trigger on the 80 was better.

Buy the one you want, either will be about the same for accuracy. If you want a FLGR it can be added to the Gold Cup. I have always regretted settling for other than my first choice. :D

How do we know the Sig is more accurate than the new Gold Cups?

The Sig will shoots groups at 50 yards that the Gold Cup will be lucky to accomplish at 25 yards, that is a fact.

It comes down then to looks vs accuracy and I will always pick accuracy over looks.
I seriously doubt that SIG will be any more accurate than a Kimber. My Kimber is the most accurate auto I've shot, mirroring my custom Mark IV pin gun, with 2" less barrel.

Have you shot both the Sig and GC?

I've shot two or three GCs and own an L1 Sig, I'm a big fan of Colts and my comment was in no way a slight on the GC. The Sig L1 pistols are just at the top of the food chain as far as semi-custom pistols go. The trigger is adjustable down to 2.2# but even at 3.5# the pull is so smooth and consistent it only takes a couple dry fires to know what it is capable of. The L1 Sigs are almost twice as much money though so you have to consider that.

Not even close, not even in the same zip code. There again I'm a huge Kimber fan, mostly of the older ones, and they do shoot well but you're talking about two totally different animals.

OK, I'm not doubting you, I don't know much about the Sig, other that I'm not crazy about it's looks. Personally, for bouncing tin cans and a range toy my Colt CG is good enough.
