Since tomorrow is Sun. Start of a new week, I'm going again...gunsmith has something he is working on ... I like being the guiena pig...Hinted its loud, makes a big noise, and a big hole...yippee
just to rub it in.........during the 1/2 of the year I have off, I try to get in at least 3 or 4 shooting 'events' a week.
Sometimes it is only blasting off 1/2 a box or so of .357 or .44mag while out on a fishing hike, but it is still fun and makes the day even better. Come on out to Bend as I guide for free to some of my favorite spots (but ya can't get there with wheels!)
On Thursday, lendringser came over with his Neos and I dragged out my Model 34. We took 100 rounds of .22 out to the back yard and defended ourselves against a rabid soft drink can.
Friday afternoon, I got bored, ran upstairs and got my HK91, and took it out back and ran a magazine through it just for kicks doing quick shoulder-rifle-fast-sight-picture-pair-of-shots-back-to-low-ready stuff.
Normally I shoot at least 3 or 4 times a month, but not recently. This board is free. Unfortunately, ammo is NOT. Don't blame me - "college kids are supposed to be poor." I hate that.
Last semester I shot 1000rds of 8mm mauser. Great round for the college guy on a budget, oh and sometimes I take my money budgeted for lunch and buy more ammo. I burn a 1000rds of .22 a month. But my range is 50yds from the door of the house. My wife likes to say when I have a bad day at the socialist cesspool called college I like to come home and shoot until I am happy. With the Turk Mauser, it normally means I have a black and blue shoulder.
I've been cutting down spending some ammo money on some new toys. But still shoot about 4 times per week, as few as 10rds and sometimes more. Like today I shot once, 300yds put a 150gr corelokt into a wild hogs shoulder. Figured that was good enough for the day, besides I had butchering to do.
After my move to Indianapolis in 1995 or so, I probably only shot once every couple of months up until 2001. Late in that year I moved back closer to my home town (which is in southern Missouri...I live in northern Arkansas, though). Now, living in a more rural location, I shoot at least a couple of times per week. For a while there, while I was living in a motel for several months before I bought a house here and moved my family down, I had nothing else to do so I shot nearly every day after work AT the workplace (a quarry). Ahh...it was great...I shot the Benelli quite a bit, the AR, handguns in 9mm and .45 ACP, the .308 bolt gun...wonderful.
I'm lucky to go once every couple of months. And I haven't fired the SKS in 7+ months. I feel bad going by myself without my wife, but I suppose I should since she can't always go with me.
I just got back from shooting today , Bad news folks BUBBA the truck died on the way home... I guess he was heartbroke since I didn't take him back to the range .. I have to say 2 times shooting in two weeks , hmm I should stay unemployed more often .
It's been a year since I've shot at the range. Had to move and all, and I got my CHL 5 months ago (using my Florida training certificate), and will be getting a handgun hopefully in the next two weeks (a nice Glock 19).
Honestly, I might make it to the range once a month. Mostly just to make sure I haven't forgotten anything. It's expensive and a long drive (for me anyway). I would like to shoot more but cannot spend the extra money always or simply cannot find the time. When my wife and I have kids, it will be even more difficult.
It's not something that makes me proud, but I do TRY to get out at least once a month. Of course I do WANT to go more, but unfortunately food, house payment, car insurance, diapers, etc.. get in the way.
I don't know if it counts, but I do fondle my pistols at least once a day. More often than not twice.
