I am a Missouri resident but I have a Florida CCW permit; at the time I applied, it was much easier to get a CCW from Florida than in Missouri if a veteran. I am due for renewal in July and will apply for a MO permit.
I took the safety class for MO years ago with my wife; it was an all day thing but I must say that I enjoyed the legal presentation more than the range time (I already knew I could shoot) - the legalese helped me with my mindset of the great liability and responsibility of carrying a firearm - it was not a waste of time at all for me, I enjoyed the entire class.
I was also able to witness class participants that had an anxious desire to pull the trigger - when asked, shooting someone stealing your lawnmower out of your shed was perfectly appropriate - deadly force for a lawnmower? Again, I can sometimes see the anti’s point.
In my mind, there must be some kind of control on concealed firearms. I understand that degree is key but I like the idea that even a clumsy message is sent by a clumsy government - at least a message that carrying a gun is something important.
