Ok I have AK fever really bad lately and I am thinking that I want a underfolder and the Yugo seems to be the way to go. I already have a Saiga that I converted and love it because iots nice and light but I really want a back up rifle that's a little different. That being said I see that there is the older yugos with the 1.6 and these AB2ts have a thinner receiver. Im figuring that its ok because the original yugos were really heavy and I wouldn't mind having a lighter rifle as long as it is still high quality. I also understand that the older Yugo underfolders have wood stocks which would look nice but so what. What is everyones opinion on the AB2t compared to the older underfolders that they used to put out. Heres a link https://www.classicfirearms.com/long-guns/yugom70ab2tunderfoldwmags

I bought one of these from J&G back in October. I love it. Runs like a champ and is built well in my estimation. I have no experience with the older ones that you reference but the current crop seems pretty good to me.

I opted for the N-PAP DF over the M70 AB2/AB2T. Has the Yugo CHF barrel, which alone is worth the $100 extra to me.

Mine also came with the straightest sights I've ever seen on an AK that I didn't personally work on, has a better finish than any M70 AB2 that I've laid eyes on, and is overall a great little underfolder. Throw an oil finish on the handguards and you're in business.

Yeah for the price it seems like a steal! From what I've read a lot of the day(home sick) the newer ones have thinner non rpk receivers without a bulged front trunion. I'm not really sure if I care about either of those two factors as they relate to grenade launching.

The heavier receiver is nice for collectors, useless to me... I'll take a lighter weight rifle any day.

Don't get me wrong, the M70 AB2T is fine and will serve you for years, but for only $100 more, the N-PAP DF (Classic still has 3) is just a better deal overall. The stock is a bit tight at first, but that's a good thing... all underfolders loosen over time, so the tighter it starts, the better.

Is there any differences in the npap df besides the barrel? Also I'm worried about getting a single stack bolt as well will one run a bigger risk of coming with one.

No grenade sight, brand new construction in Serbia, rather than a parts build here, you won't have pitting or rust on it when it arrives (or if you do, it's just surface rust... mine came slathered up in oil, though), and the handguards are wood. Just overall better fit and finish.

NPAPs also won't have a bayonet lug if that's important to you.

I prefer the military config of the traditional M70s but it is a little more of a gamble getting a good one if you're buying blind over the internet.

Oh ok sounds like the Npap DF is where is at then if it's a real yugo build that's HUGE

Yeah, only thing is Century has to open the mag well like on the WASR's, so there is some room for error there on Century's part, but by and large, they've really stepped up their game over the last couple years, to the point where proper fitting mags are to be expected, not a nice surprise.

What about the bolts I heard a lot of stuff about single stack bolts being left in the finished product double stack guns.

That was only an issue when they first started importing them. Any one that you buy now comes with the correct double stack bolt as far as I've seen.

Hmmm. Looked at 2 different Ugos this week end. One was a stamped receiver for $500 and the other was definately milled at $600. Both had polymer forearms with grenade sights.
Aside from the receiver, what's the difference?

Personally, I think most people would be happy with either of the Yugo M70 underfolders. Of most importance is that you get one that functions properly and is built right, which means checking it out in person before you lay down the cash. I have one of the M70AB2 models and it has run like a champ since day one. No rust, no pitting, no canted sight, no wobbly mags and a tight-fitting stock. I don't care one way or the other about the bulged trunion, but I do like the fact that it hasn't been neutered by having the bayo lug ground off. It also has flip-up night sights and came with the cleaning rod if that makes any difference.

have you considered the yugo AK63D?.. they are a more standard AKM pattern capable of using all standard AK parts and furniture and come with an underfolding stock as well

Ha you had to throw me through a loop didn't you. Yes that AK63d looks really nice! I love that milled Bulgarian look super black as coal. How do those Hungarian aks stack up to yugos

My almost-decade-old Yugo M70AB2

I like 'em better with the wood furniture. (Although it smokes more when you shoot a couple drums through on the 4th of July...it smells better than melting plastic.)

Nothing like the smell of spent gunpowder and a sizzling handguard. Whats a better way to spend time on Americas B-day.

The more I look at that milled Hungarian the more I want it the fit and finish is very good.

That's Hungarian.
yeah.. sorry, thats what i meant

but fact remains the AK63Ds are fairly inexpensive right now, very well made, and uses all standard AK parts and accessories as well has the underfolding stock

the yugos on the other hand do have more of the milled AK47 barrel profile which is a bit thicker, a bit heavier too though

he should look into the hungarian AK63Ds and compare the tradeoffs

Do they make the AK63 in a non folding config as in Hungarian milled with a wood buttstock?

the AK63D is the variant with the underfolding stock, the one with the fixed stock is the AK63F, i have yet to see any AK63F kits available.. you could also buy a parts kit and build it yourself, maybe even use the AK builder rear trunnion which gives you a native rear trunnion with the ACE modular interface for any variety of stock adapters and folding hinges.. kind of give your AK a modernized update, and fixed rear trunnions for a fixed stock can be purchased fairly inexpensively and used in place of the under folding gear

thought you were looking for an underfolder though?

my go-to rifle is a bulgarian AK-74, parts kit came in uninssued, pretty much brand new condition, probably never been fired, i built it from this parts kit as a 5.56mm rifle with a fixed stock, but i've been thinking switching to a left side folding stock for sort of an AK-74M or AK-100 style rifle.. the bulgarian stuff is very high quality, their 74s are stamped though, not milled

I am looking for an underfolder I wanted to get one in case some politician decided I don't need an underfolding AK and also as a truck weapon I was just curious.
