I've always said that corporations are powerful forces to be feared. They have concerns for nothing but the pursuit of profits.

I've always told people that large corporations will eventually help fold up our freedoms if they can turn a profit while doing so.

A working group led by Vice President Biden is seriously considering measures backed by key law enforcement leaders that would require universal background checks for firearm buyers, track the movement and sale of weapons through a national database, strengthen mental health checks, and stiffen penalties for carrying guns near schools or giving them to minors, the sources said.

To sell such changes, the White House is developing strategies to work around the National Rifle Association that one source said could include rallying support from Wal-Mart and other gun retailers for measures that would benefit their businesses.

That says "could include". As in not yet done. While corporations are about getting money, which is a no brainer, its best not to condemn them as a whole. Especially not before anything is actually confirmed.

That doesn't say anything about WalMart or other corporations working with the Commission to sell us out.

It says that they realize they need WalMart and corporations to not oppose the changes so they're trying to not make those changes painful to them.

This does raise the question of how to counter an effort like this.

When legislation is proposed, we have the opportunity to voice our opinions on it. Something like this is much harder to detect, and therefore tough to respond to.

If this is going to become a common tactic, then we need to figure out how to at least make it transparent. Walmart might well sell us out if they thought they stood to gain -- but they'd be unlikely to do so publically, since the shooting community is pretty aggressive when it comes to taking our business away from companies that undermine us.

Which is exactly why we need to let businesses know that we will vote with our dollars if they act to infringe upon our 2nd Amendment rights.

I would be interested exactly what percentage of "the gun market" that Walmart channels. I buy a good bit of ammo from them and I would think many more here do too.

We live in a semi-fascist economic system. Meaning that any company, especially "large corporations", are allowed to make profits after jumping through certain government imposed hoops. Sending a shot across Walmart's bow would be a smart move for the gun control types. "Cooperate, or you will find profits drying up with some more business regulations thrown your way."

I have seen what can happen when a company gave the government "the finger". The government took an arm. Bottomless pockets and resources, they have.

If Walmart does bend to Biden's will, it will be because they feel they might severe a finger to save an arm. Unless they see they might do quite well, armless, with profits made from gun folk.

Walmart rushed to take Black Rifles off the shelves. You think they won't try and play their game up to get something out of the government if they think it will net them something. If online sales of ammo gets banned Walmart will stand to make a mint. All we can do is hang on for dear life and keep the politicians aware of our displeasure.

Ah yes, those evil corporations that exist only to make money. All the while they're making profits by providing us with products that improve our own quality of life. How dare they meet consumer demand and create supply to satisfy customers! We should ban affordable goods, gasoline, transportation, and entertainment. Who's with me?!

I believe the section concerning that they are considering measures that would not require Congressional approval is the largest worry.

Caterpillar, John Deere, AT&T had attempts to be punished by Liberals made because they disclosed, by Federal Mandate, how Obummercare would negatively affect their bottom line and lead to lay-offs and downturn in production growth.
& this is exactly what happened.
Believe me on this.
Most Corporations have no love for the current administration and aren't about to lie down for them...

Corporations are just a way for people to join together for a common productive purpose. Some are run by good people others my some with less scrouples. Welcome to the Human race.

If you want to get Corporations out of politics, lobby to get the politicians out of Corporations. The more they tax, regulate and otherwise threaten business, the more time and money business is required to divert from their core purpose to protection from govenment.

You do realize Wal-Mart is still selling rifles, correct?

Perhaps more accurately,

Corporation: An ingenious device for obtaining individual profit without individual responsibility.

Shoot man, in about 2007 General Motors removed all American flags from the inside of their American factories. Greed is a global sickness, and they love to have us crushing each other on the race to the bottom, while they get rich building factories in China and India.
