I've been thinking about this too. I have no philosophical problem with my money going to China. We give them money, they give us first-rate guns. Sounds like a win-win to me. North China Industries makes good guns, what can I say? The problem is not even so much gov't as whinny Americans who will no doubt be bitching in this post, "buy American!" and the ever present, "I will not send money to a communist regime" folks; they've never been to capitalist China, but they know from the 1970s, that the people still sing praises to Chairman Mao. Frankly, I'd like weapons from Korea as well (the K2). One must also consider the American gun industry who will protest that Norinco will put American gun makers out of business... well, good I say. If you can't compete and keep over-charging me for an AK-47 you deserve to lose your damn job. For a $100 difference, I'd consider "buying American". For the $400 premium we have to pay for 'merican guns, no way. Besides, I'd hedge my bets that Norinco would open up a factory in Alabama or something like that and we'd have Americans building the AKs. Hell, Norinco would probably be more "American" than S&W in 10 years...
