This story kind of makes me a little worried about the new LCP I picked up. I'll be heading to the range this weekend to make sure I can put them where I want them. I'll also have my compact 1911 back soon, so that'll go back on the hip. Good story and will strike home for my girlfriend's mom who knows I carry, but doesn't think I'll ever need it.

Glad things worked out for the good guy.
A few have commented on the lack of effectiveness of the guys .38.
Well for one thing even though Hauser was hit four times we dont know where he was hit.
Another,we dont know what type od ammo the good guy was using.
Hollowpoints,FMJ,Wadcutters...Who knows??
One thing is for sure is that it stopped the guy and he wanted no mo!!

Edit to add...Just read the other link that now they say it was a .380.
No matter the same applies.

What I think is great is that he's still facing two charges of attempted robbery when he gets out of the hospital. He got shot 4 times and he's going to jail.
Has anyone read where he was shot? Depending on the placement, the fact that it was a .380 may not matter.

for the record there is no 'safe' part of downtown St Pete. Numerous police officers killed in the last few months - some by kids.

Hopefully someone else can learn from his mistakes as well.

Some people learn from others' mistakes. Some people learn from their own. Some people never learn.

The vast majority of criminals fall into the last category. If they were capable of learning, they'd soon realize crime is an extremely poorly paying, high risk endeavor. Any idiot can get away with simple crimes for awhile, but the odds of walking away with much over any period of time are extremely low.

Story said he was buying another gun, hope he gets very good quality JHPs for it as well. I agree, would like to know what type of ammo was used.

I can clear up a few facts on this story, the gun was a keltec P3AT, load was 105 gr Remington golden saber, there was one round left in the gun, so 6 shots fired.

Okay RavenTai, is it a coincidence, or are you the victim turned shooter? Just curious since Raven is not exactly common.. Either way thank you for the information..

^^^I hope you and your girlfriend are recovering from the ordeal.

While I dont wish that situation on anyone. You kept your wits about you and prevailed.

If the news reports were accurate. Kind of a rude welcome to a new city!
Wish you and your family nothing but the best.

Raven, if you are so just remember what you say by mouth or posts can be used against you according to the lawyers guild around here.
Happy things went your way and not the other way around.
A .25 ACP is still quite deadly.

Heeler understood, we have civil protections in FL, how effective they are I don't know so I am just sticking to the facts.

Good job with the situational awareness and marksmanship, Raven. Hope you and your girl are doing OK emotionally.

Good reporting too in the linked story (beyond misreporting the gun, which is practically required)--much less sensational than how a good shoot by an armed citizen is usually reported.

Hopefully from now on, every time Mr. Hausner contemplates a repeat performance, he takes a look at the bullet and surgery scars and changes his mind.

If only people were that smart. More likely they will become a 'badge of honor' to him, so he can tell his worthless compatriots how tough he is. "Street cred".

RAVEN - For your own good, I can only recommend you stop posting in this thread.

^^^ Well if so it's doubtful he will see the age of 30.
Anyone at the age of 17 who goes off pall mall with a gun trying to rob strangers he doesnt know jack about simply can't last that long in the grand scheme of things.
What a simpleton this Hauser is.
Must be related to one of those guys up in Dayton Ohio.
