I am interested in Curio and Relic firearms basicly. I have visited, participated in, been a moderater on, and of recent years, owned my own site based on C&R guns.

I have found this site to be first rate as a general firearms site and wondered how many here are into Curio and Relic collectible firearms and have a C&R license. So.... are you into C&R's on a serious basis?

I have mine since 1998. I tried to cut down on C&R since I ran out of space. :)

I have the license and used it to build a modest collection, but I think my next C&R rifle will be my last, at least for the forseeable future. It's gonna be an M1 Garand, BTW.

I've held a C&R license since 4:00 this afternoon

I plan on being semi serious, about 10 guns per year

I do have serious plans for my next 91/30

I have a few milsurps already and have a C&R permit on the way (I hope!). I have an eye on a few new purchases this year.

I have had my C& R license for a couple years, but I am running out of closet space.Might have to toss some clothes and buy another K-31.Or another 59/66.Or some more 24/47s,I love 'em.Let me see,I could get 4 more Enfields under the bed...

Absolutely- a ticket to having fun. And being broke.

Mine took 10 weeks. Grrr. Seen where some get it in 3-4.

You never know what's next, with C&Rs. But when they're gone, they're gone.

Shooting an M39 tomorrow. M48A, too. Putting in a new gunsafe soon.

:scrutiny:

6th year of C&R, gun closet is full, no money, needing a "mil-surp fix" quick. Going to the Denton, Texas Gun Show if a few hours. No telling what will follow me home. I really think I have spent as much at Brownell's and Midway USA as I have on C&R's the last few years.

Need more..............:banghead:

My dad has a C&R. Even if you aren't interested in serious mil-surp collecting, it can make buying from an auction easier if you happen upon an old firearm you can't do without. Also, quite a few gun accessory type distributors offer dealer pricing to those who posess a C&R. At $30 for three years,it pays for itself with one or two transactions.

Had mine for just over a year and It's already broke me. I heard other collectors joke about it but it's true, C&R collecting is more addictive than crack and just about as expensive. My personal best so far is 10 guns on one order:D .

I had one. They are nice and very convenient. But, they can cause you to go broke or into debt. I let mine lapse and haven't looked back. I realized that my very best deals could not come from a C&R, because the seller is generally on line and knows what he's got. Because of that, my best sources are pawnshops. The C&R means you can get good deals on general items from distributors. It also means you don't have to pay a transfer fee to an FFL for a firearm.

However, you also give up certain rights. You must maintain an accurate bound book, which the ATF has a right to inspect (and they also have a right to inspect your collection). Generally, these inspections are painless and often can take place at the ATF office and not at your home. However, you have opened the window and the vampire can come in, if he really wants to. It was worth it for me, at the time, but when I had to log in all firearms I bought, including the many I had to buy on the yellow form (when they were yellow) when sellers refused to accept my C&R FFL.

In any case, I decided it would be better to let it lapse. It causes more fiscal responsibility on my part. However, I still buy on online auctions, but much less on a whim.

In short, the C&R is a convenient, but not universally accepted, liscense. It makes it cheaper to buy firearms as you don't have to pay a transfer, but the very best deals will not likely come from the internet but from local shops. Many of these places are ignorant or view with contempt, the C&R FFL, so you can't use it for that purpose. It has good parts and bad.

I've had mine for a little over a year, I probably bought $2000 with of guns on it so far. I already had a pretty big collection of C&R rifles before getting the license and am not really looking to buy too many more except for a few high end items I'm looking for. It gives me a really good discount from Midway too.

I have had one for a few years, but used it only for Brownells etc discounts until recently.

Just bought 5 K-31's. Bad idea. Gonna have to have more now......

I've had mine for 6 months (it arrived in 2 weeks; must be a record). I have only bought a Yugo 59/66, and I doubt I will be going nuts on the milsurp stuff- fun toys, but I am not a huge collector. A few examples of good guns are nice (maybe a Garand someday), but I don't go nuts.

well, i just ordered the forms a couple days ago. i'm looking forward to it, though i doubt if i'll renew more than once. i'm looking mainly to buy good condition soviet weapons without having to deal with rude, snobbish or ignorant dealers. i'll probably have to pick up a garand as well. might even get into other stuff but i'm kind of afraid to let the foot in the door on that - it could get ugly.

Got mine Aug 2005. Took 34 business days. K31 is the only weapon I've bought so far, but it's saved on accessories from Brownell's and other places. Wish I'd had mine for the 20-odd years I've been seriously shooting.

I just sent in my paperwork a few days ago.
I'm am getting a little concerned about my bank accout after reading some of the previous posts.:D

I've had my C&R for about 7 years, safe is full, guns everywhere and I'm thinking about putting another safe in a friends house so the wife doesn't know! It's well worth the money just to know what the guns cost wholesale. I keep my C&R on file with CAI:)

One year, 4-5 guns, seems worthwhile.

On the subject of inspections, I can't find a C&R holder who has actually ever been inspected. Two reported holding their licenses for 18 and 16 years respectively with no inspections to date. It does open you up to greater intrusion from the feds, but this window seems pretty small and little (if ever) used.

I've had a C&R for several years, the only military types I have though are a FN49 and a Yugo SKS. I use it mostly to buy pre-war sporting rifles and pistols.

(sigh)
One year even with my C&R, many guns, great discounts, really worth $30.
These things are addictive.
