I've had mine for almost a year, and so far I've only got a CZ52 and K31 in my bound book. I already had some C&R stuff, and have been holding back since we have a baby. One day I'm afraid I'm going go nuts, break out the credit card and order one of everything. ;)

Its worth the discounts you get from brownells or Midwayusa. you will pay for the C&R with your first parts order from either. Think of it as a discount card.

C&R Go for Broke!

Have had my C&R for 10 months and am totally into it!:) I have to put the brakes on a little now as I have spent about 5k.:uhoh: Someone said that pawn shops are the place to shop and I second that! I have picked up some real bargins at my local pawn shops. Also my C&R took only 4 weeks to get. I would like to see a C&R only section on THR!

I haven't looked it up yet but how do you get your license to the different dealers, can you fax or does it have to be a hand signed copy mailed in.

It has been the case that you made copies of your unsigned license and then signed the copy and sent the copy in by mail. Looks like in a late letter from the BATF that they will allow faxed copies as of August 2005.

However, dealers have their own rules that you should follow.

I have had my C& R license for a couple years, but I am running out of closet space.Might have to toss some clothes and buy another K-31.Or another 59/66.Or some more 24/47s,I love 'em.Let me see,I could get 4 more Enfields under the bed...

My suggestion is that you buy Momma a new dress, and then take the guns out of the closet to make room for it and put them in your new safe. I bought my first real safe a couple of years ago, and I wonder how I did without it before.

BTW, my rule for buying a new safe is this: when all your guns won't fit in your safe, then you keep only the bolts in your safe and put the actions under your bed.

When you start having to store the actions under the kids' beds, then its probably time for a new safe.

C&R if definately worth the $30.00 every three years. I've had mine for 4 years now and have saved a lot of money on my purchases of qualified firearms. I've just now began saving on other purchases at Brownells and soon at Midway.

I'll be receiving an order from Brownells tomorrow I saved over 35% on. Forty eight dollars in one order is certainly worth the $30 I paid Uncle Sam for the license. Midway accepts a Faxed copy of the order for their discount. I just faxed mine to them after asking them about it less than an hour ago.

Not to mention C&R firearms at distributer pricing!! :D

I've had a C&R since 2004, and have since developed a bad addiction to straight-bolt Mausers. I can shoot 'em left-handed without breaking my shooting stance.

I like the CZ52 pistols, too. When the Helll are Makarovs gonna be C&R eligible?

Some are. Cole Distributing has some right now that appear to be C&R.

This license is nuts. I just got ANOTHER M39... to keep the miles off my precious "cheat" M39... Guess what, the new one's even nicer. New-looking Sako barrel, beautiful wood, perfect blue. Beware of the M39 bug!

Spent $200 on ammo. This license is gonna break me. However, I am shooting a lot...always fun.

That is correct. It would be nice if the Bulgy's were as well.
If the other types are C&R the Bulgy's should follow soon. Of course, I don't know the bizarre inner workings of the ATF so that's probably wishful thinking.

I looked at the East Germans at Cole Distributing. They look fantastic, but damn, I can almost buy a brand-new polymer .40 or .45 for that price! I got a C&R so I could get good shooters on the cheap.

Should I get a C&R?

Whats the availability of inexpensive (less than $300) hand guns that qualify for C&R purchase? I'm looking for guns I can actually shoot rather than hang on a wall. Not that there's anything wrong with that if that's what your into.
I just don't feel like filling out a ton of paper work for something I probably won't use. Any info appreciated.

CZ52's, Nagant Revolvers, .32ACP Manurhin PP's, Star MDL B 9mm's are in that price range with a C&R License. They will obviously cost more if you have to go through a dealer. You should be able to find some older S&W revolvers under $300.

More or less, any handgun 50 years old or older, with a few newer models on the list because of rarity. There is a list on the ATF website of qualifying guns. Then look in Gunlist or SGN and see which are selling in your price range.

Well I haven't made any purchases yet but my license just saved me a $45 background check for membership at a local range.
If I decide to join it will have saved me half again as much as I paid

Got a C&R about 4 years ago. Only bought a couple M/Ns to celebrate. Not much time or $$$ available to do much more than renew.

Downside: now I have to occasionally fuss about registration & keeping books.

Upside: I'm a certified provable "good guy" - as in "the feds trust me enough to let me have battle rifles shipped to my door without having to get anyone else's permission or paperwork". In a legal culture rapidly leaning toward "guilty until proven innocent", that's the only generic "certified good guy card" available.

I always order two of whatever incase I screw one up.

They come with a duplicate to give to CLEO

No fingerprint cards necessary
