There are choices, as always. However, given the reliability factor as being paramount, one tends to think of the brands known to be as reliable as a bucket of rocks.
In my experience semi-auto's are more concealable than revolvers. Also, in my experience, bigger bores are better than smaller bores. I don't buy into huge magazine capacities, because the idea is to get out of trouble rather than engage the enemy in a firefight. Also, accuracy trumps capacity everytime IMHO. "How well do you shoot" is a better question than "how many rounds does it hold".
All of the above taken into consideration, and because I'm a lefty, I picked an H&K. If left handedness isn't a factor for you, also look at SIG. Neither is over $1000.00 new & it's not unheard of to find something in the mid-hundreds, look to CDNN. Many models to choose from.
