I am thinking of making the CZ my next 9mm purchase. I currently own a SW-MP 9mm, which is totally Awesome, Accurate and Reliable. I am trading a Taurus 24/7 9mm, which is a Reliable gun, but does not have the accuracy of the MP. Now on THR I have heard a lot of very Good things about the CZ. I would use the Gun for Both Home Defense and the Range. [no carry it has a 4.7 inch barrel] Although I currently own Two 9mm's most of my Experience is with the .45 and .40, so the 9mm is still the one I am getting used too. I was going to get another MP 9mm, but the CZ caught my eye on the Mag capacity [19] and possible accuracy. Does anyone own both the CZ and MP? How do they compare? Is the CZ accurate, durable, and easy to take down and clean? How about the Finish?:)

Thank You for Your Responses in advance!

VERY accurate .. VERY durable .. Somewhat easy to take down .. The finish seems decent ( I have had no problem).. It is a SA/DA which I really like

I don't own an M&P, but the CZ is very durable, and should be quite accurate. I've done trigger jobs on mine and they are pretty easy to work on. The polycoat finish is not the prettiest thing in the world, but it's pretty tough.

My CZ has met all the requirements you mentioned. Accurate, reliable, the finnish is very durable and a field strip takes 20 seconds with no tools. I have a CZ .22 conversion for mine so the piece gets used twice as much now. My daughter shoots it well and she has small hands, compared to my paws, so I guess the ergonomics are pretty good. Mine was used and cost $350 two years ago, a bargain. Mine only problem was a broken firing pin, caused by my dry firing on an empty chamber. I wanted to change the grips , but the factory grips are so comfortable I honestly can't justify it. The trigger is a little scratchy to start with, but improves. If were to do it all again I'd have a trigger job done. The gun is worth it. This could easily become your favorite.

FWIW... not in this country but, this is one of the most widely used police and military handguns in the world. Also CZ is the largest maker of small arms in the world.

excellent, gun! My only problem is with the flimsy plastic guide rod. Which Angus Hobdell is working on a metal one, which should be out sometime next year.

The CZ-75 PO1, SPO1, is a locked breech pistol, it locks in the manner of the 1911 barrel lugs to slide without the need for the swinging link. Further the slide rails are reversed, meaning the slide itself runs inside the frame. This delivers some benifet's expected and otherwise. For instance you'll notice the barrel remaining almost stationary when working the slide, and the buttery smooth movement of the slide within it's rails, and the tight lock-up of the whole mechanism. An additional benifet I've notice'd is the almost complete lack of GSR when cleaning one of these pistols after firing, really quite amazing. When properly working a CZ can shoot as good or better than any pistol currently in production, were talking sub 2-inch at 25-yards. Not bad for a pistol that can be had for well under 550.00. In my experience CZ's are prone to breakadge in the trigger spring, and the firing pin roll-pin. Keeping in mind that you have several other pistols I wouldent hesitate to recomend your purchase of the SPO1. Just remember, the CZ's have at least 54 seperate parts, and in some as many as 60! For comparison a Glock has 34. CZ-USA has ONE gunsmith, thats right ONE, and contrary to what you're hearing parts can be very hard to come by. Further the CZ-mechanism is an extremely complex one to work on, my point, if it breaks you could be in for a bit of a wait, like month's before it's back in action. For those reasons I never recomend a CZ to a first time or one time only buy'er. Hope that helps you out.......:D

I have an SP01 Tactical with a hammer drop rather than a safety. It's the most accurate handgun I own. The trigger is rough (as is common on CZ's), but everything else about it is terrific. It's my number 1 range gun.

I have a SP-01 Tactical and love it. I have ccw'd it actually, its only a bit larger than a 1911. With the junk velcro job eBay holster I have I could only keep it from printing by carrying small of back, but there it didn't print with a long t-shirt as cover.

Mine IS quite accurate, better than a low end 1911, but not as good as a target pistol. Mine, at least, starts stringing to the left at about 9:30 as the pistol heats up... the same stringing shows on the cz test target. I was actually going to post about this, since I don't know if its normal or correctable. Still, slower fire, like no more than 3 shots in 30 seconds and it is very accurate. It never pulls enough that it couldn't hit minute-of-badguy at 25 yards, even if I dump the huge mag as fast as I can. It comes out of recoil very quickly for easy double taps and rapid fire..

I Also have SP01 with ambi manual safety. The trigger needs to be dry fired a lot. With a snap cap I dry fired it like 1000 times and now the trigger is great. The accuracy is better than my HKUSP9f, HKp7M8, SIG 232. It is really easy to shoot accurately. It is the least expensive handgun I have and it is the most accurate, well on par with my SA TRP Operator.

The recoil and muzzle flip is nothing, lower than any mass production handgun.

There are after market parts sold through Ghost Holster. They also sell the custom shop version with 2.5# or 3.5# trigger and other mods. They do custom work as well.

It fits like a glove. It has the best grip than everything else out there.

The basic model comes with mepro tritium night sights.

I love this thing. I used to sleep with the SA TRP Op every night, but now I sleep with the SP01.;)

I forgot to add: two gun magazines tested it and they were getting sub 2" @ 25 yards with the stock gritty trigger. After dry firing a lot or a trigger job then I am sure you can get about 1" at 25 yard sand bag rested.

Thank You Gentlemen!

Still a bit of a tough decision, as the MP is such an Excellent gun. I see that the CZ is Excellent too. Probably go with CZ to try something different, but not give up quality...

Should people PROPERLY use the fake plastic cartridges included from CZ for dry firing. They will not have firing pin/roll pin problems.

The equipment is there.. up to you to use it properly.

CZ trigger springs are no more prone to breakage than a Glock's return spring.

Only in the past few months have people been buying CZs and dry firing them improperly with the expected results. This excessive/improper dry firing could also be contributing to trigger spring problems.

Given the numbers of CZs out there. The reported problems are very small.

The M&P is establishing a reputation for excellence, but in my opinion. Like the Glock and
most other plastic framed gunS, they have no sex appeal, as they are butt ugly.

The Smith also lack the combat/police track record of the Glock and CZ.

CZs are sleek and exciting..a joy to shoot and look at:)

I have/had 4 CZ pistols to my name, and have had more Glocks break in my hand, (two), than CZs, (none). The CZ is a durable, reliable and excellent design, and the SP01 is the next generation of CZ duty/carry/competetion pistols. I am looking forward to having one.
Whenever you are thinking of buying a sidearm by rep alone, make sure you rent one/try one first. Then, if it fits and shoots straight for you, then buy one.

Hi CZF!

I already own an MP .40 and 9mm. They are the best polymer guns I have shot so far. I really have gotten interested in the CZ, seeing all the Positive posts and pictures here on THR. I will now definitely be buying the CZ next. Really looks like an Extremely Accurate and Dependable gun. I want to Thank you for your informative post, that was a big help for me:) I appreciate your help!

The Best to You and Yours!

I like my CZ-75 so much, I have an SP-01 on order. I like diversity and rarely have "duplicate" guns in my collection. I am so impressed with my first CZ, I broke my own rule.

I would compare my 75 to any regular production pistol. The only pistol I have that rivals my 75 is my West German Sig P-226.

High praise indeed.

You’re going to love the SP-01. It’s my only 9mm and it does a great job at the range. It’s different enough from my 75B that I think of them as different guns.
