Hello everyone

I'm currently on the market to buy a quality 9mm, and I have come down to these three: CZ-75BD, Glock 17, or Beretta 92FS.

They are all kinda close in price range, and I can get all of them easily from the local gun shop.

These won't be used for concealed carry, only for the range, home defense, and in the woods.

Which would you pick out of those? Pro's Con's? Personal experiences?

CZ, but not the decocker. I want a real safety lever on my pistol. No matter which CZ you pick in 9 mm, you really can't go wrong. As far as the others, well it comes down to if you want to be part of the herd or stand on your own.

The CZ75 BD will be the most accurate out of the box. If this is just a range or HD pistol you have several options in the CZ line. Pistols with decockers or those with manual safety for cocked and locked operation. If the BD is all that your dealer carries and you like it be aware that the decock position is a halfcock position and first shot DA from the half cock position is one of the best designed decocker modes of any decocking pistol. So, if you intend to shoot first shot DA at the range, you'll be getting one of the better pistols suited to it. ;)

Beretta - 1st

CZ - 2nd

Have both, Beretta won out. For me the CZ was excellent, but the Beretta was even better. I have two 92FS's, both are very close to 10k rds fired. Neither has missed a beat ever, just simply flawless & they both get smoother with age.

I have a CZ-75 and a CZ 2075 RAMI in 9mm. I also have a Beretta Px4 Storm in .40. Love them all! My next gun will be the 92FS in 9mm. Not much help am I? Around here the Beretta is about $100 more. Sounds like you found a great deal.

The CZ 75b wins my vote, but mostly because i'm a glock hater

All are good pistols and you really can't go wrong tho they are different I would say at min hold them all and if you can rent them and see which you like best.

All good guns so the important question is which points better for you.

Find out which points naturally and shoots accurately for you and buy it.

Of those, easily the Glock, altho I would get the G34

Other choices would include the S&W M&P, either standard or Pro and the Springfield XD/XDM to include the very new 5.25 model.

hso gave the best answer.

I personally point better and prefer the steel guns for the uses you listed.
I shot the Beretta in the military and own a CZ 75B.
The CZ has a fairly long trigger reach, so your hand size could be a factor.

I think you can carry a CZ cocked and locked. I am not a fan of Glocks, I have heard about to many people pulling out their glock and have a finger on the trigger and bang. I know we can argue that happens with all kind of guns, I just want to eliminate any variable. I would go with a beretta or the CZ.

I like the Beretta 92 the most, but all three are fine choices; I've had one of each.

Tough choice. You can't go wrong with any of them, really.

However! *I* would pick the Beretta. Why? because I am a mildly drooling fanboy. no other reason than that.
I did see a .45 fullsize CZ though and it looked pretty darned nice. Tough choice for sure. So my vote goes for a Beretta. any Beretta. But that fullsize .45 CZ looked really nice, too. I know it's not a 9mm. but it does look nice. >.<

I personally don't like DA/SA pistols, besides that I am a huge Glock fan. Second only to my Glock 21 as my utmost favorite pistol ever, is the Glock 19. I had a Glock 17 but could never shoot it well, something to do with the longer grip than the G19 had. But the G19 is just a sweetheart to shoot, slim, relatively small and I was much more accurate with it than with the G17.

I have a 75B, a 75D PCR and the .22 Kadet Kit .22 conversion. They are al accurate, relaible and fit my hand very well. Try all three and see what you think. Once you pick up a CZ, you might be surprised at how well they fit your hand.

CTS....You didn't mention FNH pistols...and a few weeks ago I probably wouldn't have either, but now I'm an FN convert.
I recently traded for a FNP45 and loved it so much I acquired an FNX9 to go with it. If you're looking for a duty sized weapon don't sell yourself short by not looking into the FN line. I found them to be a better value than Glock, CZ or Beretta, less expensive and sold with 3 mags. All models are ergonomically adjustable and simply feel good to start with. They are DA/SA but the USG/FNX FNs have a combined decocker/safety and can be readied in "DA first pull" or "cocked & locked". I have yet to run the 9mm but after running the .45 I can't say enough about how well it shoots.

I agree with MikePaiN about the FN pistols and I'm starting to become a real fan as they make a most excellent product at a reasonable price. Of the choices listed I would have to go with the Beretta then the CZ. Glock wouldn't even be considered.

Everyone here must have heard about the present economic conditions in the US. Why then do they continue to spend their money on foreign made products when equal or better is made right here? I don't understand.

Who do you think owns Beretta and FN? The guns may be made here, but revenue/profits go to Italy and Belgium.

Its a world market, most "American" products have a good bit of foreign parts. In addition, many of our U.S. manufacturers rely on foreign sales also. But it is OK to sell our stuff overseas, but not vice versa? Without foreign competition, American companies would produce overpriced junk.

I've actually moved S&W up the list because of the economy.

I'd like to see America get back to making things again. The S&W M&P line is as good as it gets.
