CZ, Glock, or Beretta?

Nope Glock is as good as it gets, the new Sigma line from S&W is impressive though and truly worth the price they are asking for it. I bought one just to have .40 around here. With Glock now manufacturing here in the states, Beretta won't have the military contract long either from what I have been hearing.

My personal all time favorite 9 mm shooter is the S&W 5906. Yeah baby! That's a tack driver and a half.

I like Glock, and thats what I went with, but any of them are fine. Pick the one you like the most. It's all good.

i like the glock because it has a consistent trigger pull, so you dont have to mess with the da/sa action, but i don't think you can go wrong with any of them.

Three great pistols, but all three have very different grips. I would see which one fits your hand the best and which one gives you the best natural point of aim.

Using myself as an example for those three great pistols would be something like this.

While I think Glocks are great guns, the grip does not fit me at all and my natural point of aim is way off. Conclusion is that while it is a great gun, it would be the worst choice for because I would have to work at least twice as hard to become accurate and comfortable with it.

The Beretta 92 is another great gun, however it has a rather large grip. While it points fairly natural for me it is a little larger than I would like. Good choice for me, but not a great choice.

When I picked up a CZ for the first time it felt like it was molded specifically just for me. The grip is so natural to me that it feels like an extension of my hand. It is also the one which has the best natural point of aim for me.

So the conclusion is that the CZ is the best one for me out of those three for that situation. That is for me!

What you need to do is the same thing, but for you. Find out which one works best for you and that is the best one..............for you. If you want reassurance, you cannot go wrong with either of them.

Good luck
Shawn

I am with "AtBackPackin" on this one..

Of the 3 listed I would prefer the CZ because it fits my hand the best and is very accurate as well. The grip of the Glock guns just do not feel right in my hands. My CZ P-01 is a fantastic gun in every way.

Hello everyone

I'm currently on the market to buy a quality 9mm, and I have come down to these three: CZ-75BD, Glock 17, or Beretta 92FS.

They are all kinda close in price range, and I can get all of them easily from the local gun shop.

These won't be used for concealed carry, only for the range, home defense, and in the woods.

Which would you pick out of those? Pro's Con's? Personal experiences?
I owned a glock 19,just did not like it.I have a beretta 92 inox and beretta 85fs cheetah love them.I would also look at a good used S&W 5906,great pistols.

I have been fooling around with the Beretta 92FS that my dad owns, and my brother's Glock 19.

I hit best with the Glock, and it had a better grip for me. The Beretta's was just too large for my smaller hands.

I haven't gotten to try out a CZ though... Are they more suitable for smaller hands?

Owned the 92 fs and the Glock. Beretta should be first. However , not a bad choice in the lot v

The 75 is not good for small hands. I don't know about their other models, I haven't played with them, but the 75 is similar in grip size to the 92FS.

I can speak for the SP-01 Phantom. Its got the decocker on it. Fantastic pistol. I would trust my life to it. 500-600 rounds and no problem others than bad ammo from WWB QC issue with the 100.

I've owned all of them, including the 5906 in the above post. All are great guns. If this is your first and primary self defense pistol and you have small to average sized hands as stated....go with the Glock. It's simple, very reliable and more than accurate enough. As far as the others are concerned:

My opinion....

The 92fs is GREAT, accurate and reliable. The trigger is a bit long and springy and it has a large grip....I have it in my stable. It's my most accurate pistol but not my favorite shooter. I also have a problem seeing the red three dot sights, but I can put rounds through one hole at the range with my early Italian model.

CZ-75 is accurate as hell, but honestly doesn't have the build quality that I like to see. You'll find tool marks inside the slide and I can honestly say that it won't just eat anything you feed it. I've owned three, liked them all, but none would be my choice for HD. One hell of a fun range gun!

5906, hit and miss on accuracy. One of the least accurate I've owned...and most 3rd generation S&W's I've had are pretty good but not the 5906 that I had.

I would add an XDM to the list you look at though. It's a good pistol to compare to the G17.....not better or worse just something else to consider with a high mag capacity.

Best Regards,
Jerry

I had the same question a few months ago. Ended up getting the CZ phantom. Polymer frame with a decocker. So its a win-win in my book. Hammer fired and still light. It's super accurate and will eat anything I feed it. It cycles tula, cheap federal, various HP, and didn't recoil very bad with +p+ winchester ranger.
I'd bet my life on it.

That said, you can't go wrong with any of your choices.

Ive shot all 3 and think you cant go wrong with those particular choices. There all dependable good shooters in my book.Buy the one that fits your hand grip the best.Personally i went with a glock but would have no issue with any of the others.

I used to have a Beretta PX4 Storm 9mm and I loved it, but when it came time to sell it, all of my prospective buyers wanted a Beretta 92. This might have been because I was one of the early adopters and bought it when it first came out and nobody really heard of the PX4, but resale ability might be something to consider. That said, I ended up turning back to Beretta eventually and bought a 92FS. I like anything that's sandbox proven in military environments that has a decocking ability, and your choice of single or double action (I like to keep the safety off with the hammer down for double action).

i have a beretta and a couple of glocks as well, my glock is a g26. i love them all equally but, the beretta definitely is the best feeling in my hand. my glocks are carry weapons. i've never owned a cz before but, i'm sure they're great too. as far as a range/woods kinda gun, i'd go with the beretta 92fs. i have the blued 92fs, but the inox is sooooo sexy...

My father, a police officer, carried a Beretta 92fs on duty for close to 10 years. He trusted his life and those that he protected on it going *boom* every time her pulled the trigger. That being said he now carries a Glock 22 while on duty. So he now trust that Glock with his life and the lifes of others.

I can't vouch for the CZ like I can the Beretta and Glock, never owned, fired, or even held one. I'm sure it's a fine firearm just one I'm not to interested in.

So... Beretta, Glock, or CZ... hard decision... I'd have to say that personally Glock gets my vote. Beretta is an extremely close second, and CZ I can't really say anything about.
Hope this helped :)

There are only 3 things in this world that really fit my hand.

1. Faster Horses

2. Younger Women

3. Older Whiskey

Get a grip guys:D

I can't speak for the full size CZ, but the Compact CZs with the 14 round magazines do fit a smaller hand much better. So much so that I recently sold my 5 year old Beretta 92FS to fund the purchase of a CZ 75D PCR Compact. Seen here - http://www.thehighroad.org/showpost.php?p=7415991&postcount=1578

My PCR is only a few weeks old and it fits me very well even with the standard CZ grips. It is just small enough my wife can shoot it, which is something she could not do with the Beretta from DA. So far, the PCR has fired its first 250 rounds flawlessly from a mix of JHP, FMJ, steel case FMJ, and even lead hand loads. The only problem was cleaning that dang lead from the barrel afterwards.

The Beretta was a great gun and shot accurately. It all came down to how big it was in my hands and that slide safety. In my opinion, smaller hands need a frame safety or a frame decocker if you are not going the Glock route.

Plus, if you find the CZ still a tad too thick in the grip, their are some thin and super thin grips available to really slim one up. The grips from VZgrips make a Compact CZ as thin as a Glock 19 in the grip. (From another CZ/Glock owner at another forum - http://www.czforumsite.info/index.php?topic=33171.0 )

In 9mm Glocks you have several options: Gen 3 17/19/34, Gen 4 17/34, ......

REALLY easy to disassemble and clean, service proven. I had a 92 Beretta and loved it, but the Glocks are just hard to beat for SD/HD/Duty tools.

The 75 is not good for small hands. I don't know about their other models, I haven't played with them, but the 75 is similar in grip size to the 92FS.

I would have to say this depends on how small we are talking. Do we mean small for a man? Do you mean you wear size small gloves?

I wear size 8 gloves which is a medium and what I would consider small hands for a man. I find that the CZ grip could not be any better than it is. I'm not saying that the CZ is right for you, but I do not want people to think that if they have smaller hands that the CZ is not right for them.

The fact is that some people with small hands find large grips work for them. Some people with large hands find that small grips work for them. And some people find everything in between works. The fact is the only way someone will know if a grip is right for them is for them to see so for them self.
