I shot my friends 9mm Px4 about 10 min ago and it was great. Accurate and no problems what so ever. It is a really fun gun to shoot and it looks cool.
I've shot the PX4 and the CZ. I do not own either, so I have no stakes in this little popularity contest. The PX4 was in .40, yes. It was also more of a pleasure to shoot. I highly doubt that the 9mm would be any different. If anything, it would be even tamer. So what you are saying here is that you have not shot the nine either. But you seem to think that shooting a model in one caliber gives you some sort of superiority over the rest of us when apparently you haven't shot it in the caliber that is under discussion?
That's honestly the first serious malfunction I've ever heard of with the PX4. So far they've had a pretty spotless track record. I shot several hundred through the one I shot and it was perfect all the way through, but like you said, one pistol and a couple of range sessions isn't exactly a reliability test. You didn't say in your post whether it was a range rental or a friend's or whatever. Do you know if the gun was clean when you picked it up?Things are warming up nicely here but nobody has mentioned reliability. Shooting a PX4 storm at the range last week it had serious failures to go completely into battery and was very hard to "rack" the slide to clear. Found that the rotating barrel was hanging up on crud from just less than twenty rounds of factory ammo. No, I don't own one and one session does not an in depth survey make, but my CZ pattern pistols would NEVER do this. If reliability is an issue, under adverse conditions (lint in the dresser drawer?) skip the PX4.
Now this is getting a little extreme! I thought I was bad getting my dander up.I've shot several friends who own the P0-1.
This does definitely warrant some attention. I would also like to know whether or not this was a range gun or what the cleanliness of the gun was before being shot. Also, was the ammo crappy range reloads or new factory stuff?Shooting a PX4 storm at the range last week it had serious failures to go completely into battery and was very hard to "rack" the slide to clear. Found that the rotating barrel was hanging up on crud from just less than twenty rounds of factory ammo.
Here's the one I'm contemplating right now:If anyone has better prices please post.
I have used Georgia Arms in .45 ACP, but not the other calibers. Good prices and good ammo, albeit a little sooty, but that's no big deal. The 9mm and .40 S&W might be cleaner. I'd say I have no complaints about GA.Georgia Arms sells good self defense ammo (Gold Dots) at a very reasonable price @ $14 for 9mm (box of 50) and $18 for .40.
If you want to compare the P01 to a Taurus PT-111 they are both at least in the same category of firearm. If you want to compare the P01 to the new Subcompact PX4 coming out this month......then that's a fair comparison also....they're both made for CCW. The PX4 subcompact is quite a bit smaller than the P01 and carries 13 rounds of 9mm.
