CZ Rifles....

All,

I am wondering how many of you own a CZ rifle and how many you own.

Do you like them? What did you buy them for? Plinking or Hunting?

If you like them what about them is the number one reason why you like them?

If you were going to buy another Rifle and CZ had the caliber would you buy another CZ?

If you own one along with other brands of rifles, Remington, Browning, Sako, etc. which brand is your favorite if the CZ isn't and why is it your favorite?

i have two rifles and two pistols. i bought them about 4 years ago.
back then , they were 100% made overseas, hand fit, hand finished, hand rubbed, turkish walnut, full sites front and rear.
they were 400 bucks, new. This price, was so far ahead of it's time, as to be rediculous.
these rifles are no longer made; what a shame. they are not hand fit, hand finished , hand rubbed turkish walnut. lot of marks are stenciled in, now , here in America, all my marks were rolled into the metal, and in Cyrillic as well.
the rifles now, do not come with sites, for the most part. The wood is not as beautiful. and they are now 200 bucks more.

AFTER ALL THIS, THEY ARE STILL BETTER THAN ANY AMERICAN MADE RIFLE.
and if I had to get a new rifle, I would look for a cz first.
the trigger is better as well, the single set trigger is a dream.
Accuracy? there will be no guessing about it, it will be better than any other
rifle you shoot, and there will never be a non accurate, or 5050...mmmeh...

I bought for plinking, hunting, and varminting. I bought both 527 carbines; the lightest, shortest
rifles on the planet. the 223 is a one hole punch; not a ragged hole, jagged hole, I mean, at 100 yds, I have pics, of 2 , 3 , and 4 rounds, going into 1 hole. the 762.39 , can take any crap foreign made ammo, and make it moa at 100 yds, period. Including milsurp.

CZ rifles drip with quality, are as accurate as anything out of the box, and are reasonably priced. You can't go wrong with any of them. The single set triggers are super and worth the price. My favorite rifle of all is the CZ 527 carbine.

PS - all CZ has to do to achieve nirvanna IMO, is chamber the carbine for another round, either the 6.5 Grendel or maybe the 6.8spc.

I have 2 CZ rifles. A 602 in 375 H&H that I bought about 25 years ago (25 years? Wheew!) and a newer 550 with a Mannlicher stock in '06 I got 5 years ago.

The CZ 550 is a true Mauser system and it's long enough for the big magnum cartridges. They are not as nicely finished as Remingtons or Winchesters. I have no experience with the smaller CZ rifle models.

I handled a 550 30-06 one day and fell in love with it. Between CZ and Tikka T3's it's a hard choice.

I'm a HUGE fan of CZ rifles. I have a 527 Varmint Laminate in 223, a 527 American in 223, and a 452 22lr. If they made a 527 in 17 Rem. Fireball, I'd pick one up in a second.

These are some of my groups in the varmint laminate. Mine likes 50grain bullets best, worst groups were with 40grain bullets.

This is my best group with the 527 American. I can't honestly say if it's always that accurate because I tested until I shot that group and then started hunting with it. I've taken over 15 coyotes with this rifle and I've been astounded by how accurate it's been in that role.

Oh, and please don't say, "yeah but you missed the target!" I was testing groups, not sighting in... And yeah, 27.0 is on the hot side, but everything under that shot 1"+.

Excellent rifles, especially the .22LRs. I own a 452 Lux, and it shoots sub-MOA groups all day with decent to good ammo. My only complaint with it is it is so light, it's hard to steady in a rest. I ended up putting a forend stabilizer on it to solve this issue.

CZ-550 full stock in 30-06. It shoots great, the trigger is singel set and very touchy when set. The stock wood is pretty, but the wood finish seems a little soft. So it shows scratches pretty quick.
The full Stocks have a comb drop that is better for iron sights. The Williams style rear sight on mine would never zero with some loads. It is better to get a NECG rear peep, or mount a rear peep if you go iron sights on a full stock.

I can't pick just one thing that stands out abut their rifles. I have two of their rimfires and one of their centerfires. The rimfires feel like they could handle some of the smaller centerfire rounds out there without a problem. The triggers are easily worked at home to be very crisp and anywhere from 8oz-6lbs and anywhere in between. The rimfires all shoot as good as anything I have tried in rimfire. I would think some of the more expensive rifles may have a bit more potential but with the less than match ammo I use there really isn't a difference.

The Centerfire is also a great rifle. The action is built to the chambering, not just any chambering that can fit is tossed in an action. The 527 feels like it should be on a .223. The 550 feels like it should handle anything from the .308 to the magnums. They just seem right. The set trigger is GREAT. Even without it set the trigger is very very nice. The adjustments are good and let you get a very nice pull. They all seem to shoot very well. I don't know of anyone who hasn't gotten at least 1" at 100 yards with a decent rest. Mine will hold 1/2"-3/4" depending on the load. It really is nice.

As for the wood getting worse I disagree. All the examples I see today have better wood than they did 5 years ago. The checkering has gotten better as well. I really love the CZ. The heavy barrel Savages seem to get very good reviews. They may shoot a little better, not sure. For .223 though the CZ action feels much more appropriate than the Savage 10. Those are the only two I would really consider in the $600ish range new. The 700 is ok but of late they seem to be a little more hit or miss than the rest of the market. They would make a great donor action for a high quality build but beyond that Ill stick with a Savage or a CZ.

Have a CZ 453. It shoots right up with my 64 action Anschutz. CZ's are about as good as you get for the money. Maybe better.

I do not have a single CZ hunting/target rifle, but I do have, and enjoy tremendously, the vZ-58 they bring in.



My wife want's a 452 American in 22lr, and I want a 527 in 7.62x39mm, someday when money drips from my posterior.

My CZ452 Style is a tack driver, I use it for smallbore silhouette matches.

My VZ.58 isn't really a CZ I guess, but it is a cool weapon and a ton of fun.

I bought my dad the cz452 22lr and loved it so much just bought one for myself today and fixin to take the scope off the win. wildcat i just instaled 2 days ago they are that nice in my opion.

Now I need yo figure out the Rings and scope for it.. I think it will 50mm with at least a 16 total magnification.. What is the set up you guys are running

On my CZ 550 Laminated Varmit 22-250 I have a Ziess Conquest 6.5x20x50. It is an outrageous scope on an outrageous rifle! It has been a great combo.

CZ-527 (7.62x39mm) American Carbine. Love it, and it's a lot more accurate after I started my own reloads.

I have a cz 527 in 221 fireball, bought it for calling at night. Excellent gun definitely my favorite and i would buy another cz. It will shoot 1/4" groups all day long and feeds flawlessly. Excellent gun to reload for and extremely well built and sturdy. Went calling three days ago and had a 100% hit ratio with that gun and 40% hit ration with my multimatch ar. That is why it is my favorite.

+1 for the CZ 550 FS. It's a great little hunting rifle especially in .270. I keep my shots within ~300 yards so I don't need anymore reach than the 550 provides (although a better shooter could take longer shots than I). I love the asthetics of the full stock and the single set trigger is nothing short of amazing. The action is still a little tight making a quick followup shot a little difficult while staying on target. Should loosen up with time.

im a cz fan, only cz i own so far is a 452 fs 22lr. bought it for target shooting etc... my next cz rifle will be the 527 kevlar varmint in .223.

Pat... what you need are the factory cz rings. if you look at your rear bridge, you will see a female notch in it; this is made for the male nip that comes with the set of rings. you will need high mount rings for it. Cz makes their rings and mounts out of one piece of solid steel, for the same set of rings/mounts. Very nice. Also, the one flaw you have with cz, is the bolt handle will curve right up into your rear scope bell; it is what it is. So if you like, get med. height rings/mounts, but keep the receipt, you will proly go back and get the highs.

I like your vZ-58 setup, is that folder sturdy? I'd like a rail forward for a red dot, too, sometime. Very nice.
