 I have finally made two trips to the range with my new CZ sp01. What a great shooter it is! The details:

The first trip I made this week tuesday. I shot it and did mediocre at best. No real groupings, I was dissapointed. I know it was me, and not the gun. So when I got home last night, I dry fired it with the snap caps it came with. I must have dry fired it 500 times. I noticed that I was pulling the trigger completely wrong. The barrel tended to nose dive near the end of the pull. I corrected everything and dry fired until I could do a DA pull perfect for 30 times in a row.

I went to the range today, and the first thing I did was dry fire it at the target so I could really get things down. I loaded it up, and within 50 rounds I was able to shoot a one hole 2.75 inch group at what was probably around 10 yards (maybe a little bit more or less). I had 3 flyers up 1 inch from the hole on the target, that I didn't count because that was my error ( I pushed the gun up, I corrected it and it didn't happen again) :p. Next time I go I am going to have to go out further to really test it :D That was SA shooting, in DA shooting I managed around a 3.5 inch group (not bad, but the DA trigger pull is heavy).

Now, the good and the bad:

Good:

The trigger is silky smooth in SA, and pretty decent in DA

Nice Mag capacity

It fits my hand better then any other gun I have ever held

Recoil, whats that? This thing is a cream puff!

It came with night sights, and they work really well.

Price, I paid under 500 out the door tax backround check and a box of ammo

It looks very attractive :D

The not so good:

I had a stovepipe the yesterday, as well as today. One each day, possibly the same mag. It was a weird stovepipe however. The brass was caught much like a normal stovepipe, however it also double feeded a round. One was partialy in the chamber and another round was almost stripped off the mag. Winchester white box was used, and there did not appear to be a problem with the brass. I am not to worried about this now, I will shoot another 300 rounds through it and see what happens.

The night sights are good for self defense, however on the range they were very hard to see with the lighting that was there. I really couldn't make out the front dot, so I mearly aligned the front sight blade with the rear, and shot without paying any attention to where the dot was. For range use I prefer white dot sights.

Shooting the SP01 makes me weak in the stomach with anticipation. I say that because I can't wait to take its bigger brother to the range, the 97b :D I have yet to shoot it, the bushmaster m4a3 I bought, or the 22lr conversion for the sp01. Tomorrow I shal fit the 22lr conversion to the sp01. It will be sweet to shoot 500 rounds for under 10$ :D

I had some stovepiping problems with my first SP-01, and they were cured once I replaced the extractor spring with a Wolff.

My current SP-01 already had a Wolff extractor spring in it, and to date has been flawless!

Aren't CZ's great guns? :)

Yes they are great :D I noticed the manual doesn't cover the break down of the extractor/firing pin/trigger/etc, and says a gun smith should do it. I am sure its not that difficult (as far as the extractor/firing pin goes) to take it apart. Do you know of any place that gives details on how?

Also, here is one of my targets :)

The 3 shots high were completely my fault. I for whatever reason, tipped the barrel up when pulling the trigger. I corrected it, and it didn't happen again.

Disassembly

It's not hard at all just more steps than some designs. You need the appropriate sized punches for complete disassembly, and it does help if you have a small set of tweezers.

1.)Remove slide

2.)Remove grips

3.)Remove the top pin that retains the mag brake

4.)With hammer forward, depress the mainspring plug slightly and push out the retaining pin. Push plug in further and you can pull the mag brake out, then allow the mainspring and plug to come out the bottom of frame.

5.) Lift the sear spring out of the groove on the safety shaft(tweezers) and push the safety out of the frame.

6.) Now the whole sear group can be lifted out as a whole unit

7.) Remove the safety detent plunger and spring(tweezers)

8.) Now you can remove the hammerpin's retaining pin, it is underthe detent spring

9.) Push out the hammerpin

10.) Now the hammer, strut, disconnector assembly can come right out.

This is as far as you will need to go 99% of the time
To completely disassmeble the frame keep going:

11.)Drive the trigger pin out with an appropriate sized punch

12.) Cup your hand over the top of the frame as you remove the pin, the triggerspring may want to jump out.

13.) Trigger and triggerbar will now come out

14.) Using a high quality parrallel ground flat blade screwdriver, remove the screw that retains the triggerbar spring and the mag catch spring, it is very tight

15.) Those springs will now fall out as will the mag catch button

16.) The slide stop retainer spring, push down on it and drive the tiny little retainer pin out of the frame

You are done with the frame, onto the slide:

1.) The slide still has a roll pin you need to drive out to remove the firing pin, newer CZ's have a double roll pin, remove the inner one before pounding out the bigger one or it will jam up.

2.) Depress the firing pin blocker lever and the firing pin will eject out the rear of the slide, the blocker pin and spring will now fall out of it's hole.

3.) Tap the extractor spring out from the top of the slide towards the bottom, cup you hand over the extractor when removing the pin, it's under spring tension

You now have the gun broken down COMPLETELY, which you never really need to do unless you are sending it out to get hardchromed or something.
