CZ vs. AREX

Same deal, I am intrigued by "features" like proper thumb safety and Walther P5-ish slide stop/decock lever; distrustful of no-name import. But I have name brand guns when quality and support matter. Hmmm.

Decision made: SP01 Phantom arrived today. Some work with a file to make my MecGars drop free, and I'm going to try it out tomorrow. Thanks for all the input.

Let me clarify something, since my integrity was called into question.

Here's how things work at Copper Custom. I buy all sorts of firearms and shoot them. Others at our shop shoot them. We make videos about our experiences (Military Arms Channel). The AREX was something new and interesting, so I got one. It looked like a Sig copy, so I did some standardized testing. If you can suggest a better standard testing protocol, I'm all eyes.

The AREX beat the Sig hands down. Some claimed the premier Sig Legion wasn't the professional pistol Sig claimed it to be and suggested the Mk25 was the rough duty P226. I happen to have a Mk25 so I ran it through the same test and found it had similar issues to the Legion.

At that point Copper was NOT an AREX dealer. I had one gun, mine. When the emails and phone calls started flooding in, we ordered some for our customers.

So, the inference that I am somehow biased because we've sold AREX's to customers that asked for them is an unjustified attack on my character. It's hardly the "High Road" I thought we were on while guests of this site.

As for no-name pistols that come out of no-where and surprise people, try Googling a little known pistol called the HS2000.

We don't carry every brand of gun imaginable. We generally carry only the higher end firearms and accessories as these tend to be the best products on the market. We could carry low quality, high margin, firearms like Hi-Point, Century, etc. but we don't. That's because Copper stands behind every sale. If you buy something from Copper and have a problem, we take care of it. You don't have to deal with K-Var, or anyone else. We'll either replace your product, get you into something else, or refund your money. We would go out of business if we carried certain brands with such a policy, so we tend to carry brands with an extremely good track record of performance.

With all that being said, I would personally opt for the CZ. I carry a CZ P01 Compact with a Cajun Gun Works Pro Carry package. While the AREX is a fantastic handgun from my experience, it's not my cup of tea. What do you know about that? The guy with the questionable integrity and ulterior motives is suggesting you buy a gun we don't carry over a gun we do.

Original test:

1000 rounds in 14 minutes test:

Pretty sketchy, I know... all that heavy pro editing making a bad gun look so good. I should win a grammy.

Is it possible the Sig failed the dirt test because the tolerances are so tight a small amount if dirt with effect function?

That 1000 round test on the Rex was simply amazing...

I'm pretty sure those questioning your integrity were just butt hurt owners of those handguns that either got outperformed or plain failed. I was impressed with the arex as well. But my beloved ppq and p320c didn't do as well in the testing and I didn't have a fit about it. I am however really anxiously awaiting to see the different Cz's tested, especially the p01 as I think it's one if not the best all around production 9mm handgun made
