I have searched google for this topic and found some info that might be related, but I bought a cz82 a few months back, and upon firing I noticed that the gun will not recock on firing, if you cock it manually you can fire single action, but it only works in double action otherwise. I tried dryfiring it and before I let the trigger reset I racked the slide. This cocked the gun as it should, and the trigger seemed to reset properly. I got a return shipping # for Century to look at it, but was wondering if anyone else had experienced this problem. Thanks.

I would assume it's a worn sear. When the gun is fired and cycles, the hammer is moving too quickly for the worn sear to move all the way into the notch. When cocked manually, the sear has tme to get nestled in there enough that it stays in single action.

Hope that makes sense to you. BTW I am in no way a CZ expert.

Hopefully it will be something simple for them to fix. I was pretty excited about buying it because its my first pistol, as well as the first item I have bought with my curio and relic license.

Worn sear. You can get one from http://www.gunpartscorp.com/ and it's a reasonably easy part to fit but if your not a smith, you're better off finding one. Back to Century? Hit and miss, I hate to say.

I had a CZ-70 that did the same thing from a worn sear. I'd paid too much for it from Gander Mountain (local chain) so I got my money's worth from their smith :)

check to see if the sear spirng is in the hammer block channel, if it isn't then the sear won't engage the hammer, and you can get a pistol with bunches of problems, there is a little hole drilling in the hammer block that lets you see the spring.
