9mm comes with either 10 or 13 round mags,,,

Don't rule out 9x18 communist block DA/SA's.
100% reliable. Rugged. Extremely accurate. All but the PA63 (it uses some aluminum alloy) are solid steel. 9x18 packs more of a wallop than .380. Ammo is very inexpensive.
Makarov, P64, PA63, CZ-82. All are top notch.
I own all but the PA63 and have yet to experience a single malfunction.
They can be had for $200-300, usually with ammo and holsters included.
You won't be disappointed. You probably won't be satisfied with just one.

I would love a cz 82 I can't find one the only problem I have with the 9x18 mak is is hard to find locally only one shop has it and it a half hour away and if I had other pistol I wouldn't mind having on or two and probably will get one but I like something I can get my hand on easy first

Those Russian Maks in .380 were all manufactured for export and are either single or double-stack magazines. The single-stack .380
uses standard 9x18 magazines just as well.
Based on many hours of reading before I bought all of those types, they seem to Never have the potential issues found in so many older or newer Walther PPK/S.
My very nice "Made In W. Germany" PPK/S ("IA"=1980) required a weaker Wolff recoil spring just to become reliable.
I have all of those eastern Euro Makarovs plus a CZ-82, and some Polish P-83 Wanads, also excellent.
But have you checked the large heap of Commercial CZ-83s (almost all in .380 Auto), now on Gunbroker?
As for 9x18 Mak ammo, there are huge quantities found via Gunbot. A 1,000-rd. "birthday" case from Cope's just arrived on our doorstep yesterday: exactly .22/rd. plus shipping.

Nope. DA/SA with a decocker. It's a great pistol. Put some Hogue rubber or G10 grips on it and you'll love it. It is a bit bigger and heavier than a Bersa Thunder .380, though.

+1 on you comments, Ignition Override. The first gun I bought my wife was a IA PPK/S back in 1983. Solid, sexy, accurate, concealable, and ammo picky. I changed to a weaker recoil spring, too, but then had problems with fully chambering some rounds. Went back to the factory spring and use only Fiocchi, S&B or other "hotter" non +P FMJ...yeah, ammo picky...and she likes to stay very clean and lubed. (That's not a bad thing.)
But, not so with my CZ-82, Bulgarian Mac nor Polish P64. Clean, dirty, wet, dry...really doesn't matter much. They greedily eat any 9x18 on their plate and put the rounds dead-on target.

I'm buying a TP9 V2 this week for certain. I already have the TP9SA and was astounded at the value. It's crazy accurate due to that phenomenal trigger, it appears to be very well made, 18+1 and cost me $319 before shipping and transfer fees (another $16). I've only put 300 or so rounds through mine just to get it past the generally accepted universal break-in period. No malfunctions, not that I was expecting any.
The V2 has the same sweet trigger but with the addition of being DA/SA. It has a barrel that's a 1/2" shorter, but that's where the differences end I believe. It's also $320 or so.
Just another option to consider if you're on a budget and looking for an excellent pistol.

Don't forget the SIG P225/P6 for a DA/SA single stack 9mm.
For new guns they might be a few dollars more than your intended budget but I suggest you look at the CZ 75 family. The CZ 75s are outstanding guns, IME, and lots of fun to operate and shoot.

single stack 9mm? They don't show up a lot but the S&W 3904 is nice gun. A bit large for some, but I enjoy carrying one

Tanfoglio pistols are all da/sa. They are similar in build to CZs. They are imported by EAA, and most go under the rebrand "witness." I love mine, and they are usually for a very good price when you find them.
That's half right. The standard Witness-branded line of Tanfoglios are DA/SA. Their "Elite Witness" branded line is a mix of SAO and DA/SA guns... most are gamer/race guns, and, while cheaper than many of their competitors, are more expensive than most "service grade" guns.
