There are online sellers who sell the Daisy 717 screw-in exhaust valve for use in the older 880 platform guns.
They are adamant that they work.
I have not been able to do so...the stem is too long due to different nose shape and will not permit
opening when fired.
Heck, I can't even get them to seal reliably.

Has anyone successfully done this replacement?

Yup. The very one.
I cannot get it to work.
The nose of the stem makes it way too long, and the actuator fork barely opens it at all, and it doesn't even reliable seal in the old 880's.
The vendor does not believe me....basically thinks I am an idiot.
I even sent them pictures, but they were adamant: I was wrong.....
I have managed to re-shape the nose to work.:
In the first photo, the valve on the left is the original 880 valve.
The middle valve is the 717 valve as supplied.
The valve on the right is the re-shaped 717 valve. It works fine.
I don't like closed-mindedness..............

Yes some parts are close but not perfect. I've altered many for older guns to work.
