What are the options out there for those of us interested in the 10mm?

I've heard about the Glock 20, and I think there are some 1911's still out there. However, almost everything I've seen in the 1911 (e.g., Colt Gold Cup) have been discontinued.

I've always thought the 10mm was an awesome round, and would love to own one someday. I'd like to know the options.

Thanks,

Nick

check out the CZ USA site - they are marketing a stainless Dan Wesson Arms pistol called the Pointman available in 10mm as a full sized 1911 style with a few bells and whistles. I have not fired one but handled one at the local range and they appear to be very well made. I believe 10mm pistols are also available from Kimber and Springfield Armory last time I checked. Good luck.

They make the Pointman AND the Razorback in 10mm. I just got the Razorback a few months agao and it has officially become my favorite semi-auto AND my favorite 1911.:D

You may also want to take a look at the EAA Witness. I'm very favorable of the CZ ergonomics and if I was looking for a 10mm, this would be the one I'd go for.

There are a couple of very nice S&W's for sale in our buy/sell/trade-handguns forum (on page 2 at this time) One is a 1006, the other a 1076.

Isn't an EAA Witness a Tanfaglio. not a CZ? And I would have to get a steel version. No polymer for me!

Ed Brown

Go to randgfirearms.com he has a Ed Brown Colt delta elite custom for only $995.00

I handled a lightly used Dan Wesson CBOB in 45 a few weeks ago. I got a little weak in the knees, I must admit. At the same dealer, I handled a used Razorback. Sadly, both are now gone. I plan on getting one or the other, in 10mm, soon. If I opt for the Razorback, it will get the bobtail done custom anyway. I need to decide if the extra bit of site radius justifies the ~$200 premium of getting the bobtail done.

I haven't fired one yet, but the Dan Wesson 1911s ooze quality, and this is coming from someone who is not much of a 1911 fan.

Well, sounds like there are some options out there indeed. Thanks for the feedback. The Dan Wesson sounds fantastic. We have zero, nada, at the local gunshop. So it might take some shopping around to find a used. Thanks for the tips.

Dan Wesson makes the Pointman7, RZ10, and CBob in 10mm. The RZ10 is a 10mm only handgun. From what I've heard, some of the RZ10s are requiring a little fine tuning to run reliably, I have not heard about the 10mm variants of the PM7 and CBob. I own a PM7 in .45acp and I can say that it's an extremely nice pistol of very high quality and very accurate...it's worth more than the purchase price IMO, so much so that I'm considering buying a CBob in .45acp as a carry pistol (just wished they came in black/blue and not only SS as I prefer to carry a black/dark pistol).

Tanfoglio, imported under the EAA Witness name, makes 6 different versions available in 10mm. There are Steel frames (full size and compact), Polymer frame (full size and compact), the Elite Match and the Elite Limited (both considered target/competition pistols).

I like my Glock 20 a lot. If your hands are on the big side of normal, give it a shot.

Mine weren't, hence the Dan Wesson Razorback, which outshot any other semi I own right out of the box, no tinkering needed.

Witness

full size, all steel, wonder finish (like stainless but hard like tenifer). Mine is the nicest shooting semi auto pistol I've ever owned. A bit large and heavy but very accurate out to a hundred yards and it soaks up recoil very well. Best part is if you want to get started shooting tens it is less than $350 out the door and the quality is very good, no plastic junk, double action and a 1911 type safety that allows the slide to move. No magazine safety or any other kind of "locks" to worry about.

I've got a pair of 10mm, Colt Delta Elite, and EAA Wintness as described by mpmarty. But I'm not a fan of the 10mm, ammo is too expensive, and the guns seem to launch the brass into orbit frustrating us reloaders.

The Delta Elite is a much better gun, but much more expensive, but if you can afford a regular diet 10mm ammo which is at least 40% more expensive for the cheapest practice ammo compared to .45ACP it shouldn't really matter.

My Witness seems reliable enough now that I've put in Wolf extra power magazine springs (#74274) but the strongest recoil spring they have (22lbs) still fails to keep the brass out of the weeds :( (I'm talking it still files 20+ feet back and 10+ feet right).

The Kimber and DW are basically their versions of the Delta Elite which Colt no longer makes. Either should be good. The EAA fits my hand much better than a Glock 20.
