Looks like 2 out of 3 kids were taught a bit about gun safety. The one who was ignorant ended up dead while the other two went home safely.

Deputies: Boy shot and killed while playing with gun

Last Edited: Monday, 02 Jul 2007, 3:20 PM EDT

SkyFox flew over the scene as deputies investigated the shooting on Monday. BRADENTON – Manatee County deputies say an 11-year-old boy shot and killed himself on Monday afternoon in Bradenton while playing with a gun.

Investigators told FOX 13 that 11-year-old Shawn Poag Jr. was playing with two other boys at a home on 11th Street East when he showed them a gun. The two boys said he was spinning it and waving it around, so they told him they were going to leave.

Just as the two boys made it to the door, deputies say they heard a gunshot. Then, Poag came staggering out of the home before collapsing in the front yard.

The other two boys went to get help, but Poag was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Detectives are calling the shooting an accident, but they want to know where the gun came from.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at (941) 747-3011, or Crime Stoppers at (866) 634-TIPS.

Not to sound callous, but I hope they test them all for GSR. I can see a scenario where they all were playing and one of the others shot him, either by accident or for reason. Just saying. I'd investigate all possibilities, and I assume the LEO will do the same.
