I have searched and searched and found nothing that directly answered the question, so I figure I'd ask. What is the difference between the Sk (Lapua) branded Rifle Match 22lr and the Pistol Match 22lr?

I know it is fundamentally the same ammo as Wolf Gold 22lr, but don't know the difference between ammo designated Rifle Match vs. Pistol Match.

I have 22lr rifles as well as a Colt Trooper Mk III and a Ruger Mk II. Pressures won't be a problem because the ammo is rated @ 1,050fps.

I suspect the difference in the two is based on the results of the factory lot testing. SK and Wolf use the same system and lines to make ammo, and only name it after it's made and tested. A lot of 50k rounds is made and tested. If it passes the first accuracy test it is, for example, Wolf MT. If it doesn't, I hear they bulk package it (I've never seen any.) If it passes the first test and then a second accuracy test it's Wolf ME and costs more. They used to make a Wolf Gold that was similar to SK Gold, if not the same.

Looking at the SK site www.lapua-gmbh.de/naviEN.html it only shows that the velocities are different.

Rifle Match is 325 m/s from a 660 mm (26") barrel. (1066 fps)

Pistol Match is 285 m/s from a 150 mm (5.9") barrel. (935 fps)

Yeah, but the velocities should be different because of the barrel length. I've perused those sites, plus this one as well as others including a quote from Wolf about the Sk process, but have found nothing regarding the Rifle vs Pistol match differences. I suppose the pistol might actually have less powder because of the shorter barrel, but I don't know.

I was trying to say that the one that's the more expensive of the two probably just sorted higher during testing. I've never seen a comparison of them by the maker.

My first guess would have been that the pistol ammo is a bit hotter.
