Do NOT attempt to steal from this man!

Two things strike me....

1) I am continually glad I live in Texas and....

2) How stupid are these crooks? They should steal a TV so they can watch the news and know where to avoid

Man defending his property and livelihood. Nothing wrong about that.

What is right, is that while a grand jury will hear it, is that he has NOT been arrested or otherwise inconvenienced for adding some chlorine to the gene pool.

If more people packed a 12 gauge in their home and deployed it when things went "bump" in the night, there would never been any criminals. They would either be too scared to steal, or they would all be dead. Good for him!

I need to move back to Texas, I like their attitude.

There is nothing like a nice heart warming story on Sunday night.
Does anyone know if the gun used in the first incident was confiscated or if the same one was used in both?

If the police didn't think he commited a crime, why would they confiscate his shotgun?

It's good to know that some police can tell the difference between victims and criminals. I hope this a trend that catches on.

Nice dancin' bannana!

If a cop shoots someone do they take his gun away? I've been under the impression that a police report would include ballistics from any firearm used, maybe the victims doesn't if it found to be used properly. Good on them if they can do that.

If this happens here in Europe, the opposite will occur!
If we killed or even injured a bad guy, then the shooter will allways get a lot of troubles!
First the police will confiscate all of your ammo and firearms and a long court proceeding will keep you busy for a while!

Gun owner are the bad guys! The burglar are "harmless" and "defenseless" never , we have to call and wait for the police.
No vigilante justice of citizens!

Here in Texas it seems to be at the officers discretion, I read plenty of stories with it going either way.

Seems if the officer thinks it's a clean shoot he can just refer it to the DA without much else going on.

All fatal shootings go to a Grand Jury here though, DAs don't have the discretion to just not file charges, which I think is kinda dumb but oh well.

It would be nice it the press could fill in a little background info on the decedants, summary of rap sheet, immigration status, parole status, that kind of stuff I would bet a whole case of .22LR that neither of the two dirt nappers had clean records.

I have seen DA's walk into a grand jury before and tell them they see no reason to prosecute. It makes for real quick GJ sessions when they realize that even if they do indict, the prosecution is going to do everything possible to lose.

The Message

Reckon the word is out on this gentleman amongst all the theives in Texas....
