Do we have a Hi-Power Club?

I have a stock MKIII that I am debating on where to send for some work. I am thinking about Garthwaite or back to Don Williams.

The work he did not my alloy is amazing. I get a big smile every time I shoot it. :D

Another VERY nice one WVS...I'm jealous .

I've got 3 lightweights...2 stock and both will remain that way, and one I've just started: 1911 Novaks/Trit Front and matte slide. Thinking hard chrome frame, C&S No-Bite Ring Hammer/Sear set and a cropped FN MkII/MkIII Thumb Safety :D.

With the lesser of the 2 stock lightweights:

p.s. Deleted your pics from my response to save bandwith...and because my pic looks terrible next to yours .....

With the exception of the Pachmayr grips (couldn't stand the factory ones and found I liked the feel of the full wraparound set), I have left my Hi-Power box stock. Sights are perfect just the way they are and the trigger was so good right out of the box that I didn't even bother taking out the magazine disconnect. The ambidextrous safety also works great, being a huge improvement over that tiny hard to get-on-or-off design that was on older Hi-Powers I used.

Yep, probably pretty much so.

Leave perfection alone. Everything with the Hi-Power design feels right, just the way it is. If you want a rail on a 9mm. maybe consider something like a SIG P229R. Works great with a SIG STL900L laser/light combo.

Jim Garthwaite (Pistolsmith, Inc.) makes a rail for the HP. It can be screwed on, but he recommends welding. When I can get with a good welder, one of mine will have this. Nothing like a gun light when you need one.

I have a Colt Rail Gun, but it's just heavy and clunky, and only holds 10 rounds. Adding that extra weight on a HP isn't a great thing, but it will still be lighter than a 1911, and I like the idea of one go-to type of pistol.
YMMV

I'll play:

Late 50's internal extractor model.

I have a MkII project gun in the safe as well, but no pics of it.

This one's kinda early. 1954 Browning set (except the Baby, it's later :banghead: ).

I love the look of the older internal extractor BHPs I just wish that they didn't break and that replacements were available.

Another beauty WVS...'63 "Interim"? Post-Thumbprint but pre-full implementation of the '62 External Extractor design :D.

My similar '60:

You're killing me with your quality pics my friend ;). My pistol/Seller's pic  above. One day I'll find the time to get into the safes and properly document all my BHPs :(...one day :rolleyes::cool:.....

I've been trying to find where someone mentioned a good source for magazines.

May have posted a pic elsewhere. MkIII from ~1993. I remember calling Browning to get spare mags and being told that they were sold out due to the pending AWB. :(

I have had several HP's. They are my favorite full size gun without question. There are several things i do like to customize on them though. They give me hammer bite from hell. So i tig weld a piece on the back and grind it to a slight beaver tail, then stipple or checker the front grip strap and re hot blue the gun. Done right the beaver tail ext looks factory, no sign of the weld at all. Then of coarse remove the mag safety and a bit of polish inside and the gun is as perfect as anything ever made.I saw a HP once that had custom grips made from rosewood that were rounded not flat like stock grips and were fine line checkered all the way to the edges. It was a thing of beauty for sure!
