Wanted to share my gun show find. Was looking to get out of my polymer handgun for a classy, steel 9mm for the range. Some history wouldn't hurt either. I was hoping for a hi-power clone, maybe a ratty cz or a s&w 39 that would fit my budget. Near the last table I found this old guy and fell in love with the patina and the fact that it was a genuine Belgium. The greenish/brown color in the pictures is pretty close to what it looks like in person.
Obviously it's not the best of condition but it has a good barrel and no rust, but it's also missing it's original grips and mag disconnect safety, so I hope I didn't pay too much at $550. I knew that Belgiums and new production usually went for more, and that the FEG's and FMs were in the $400-$500s, but I didn't know that internal extractors $80 if you can find them. Luckily mine shot great yesterday, but I'm not sure this is going to be the range gun I was hoping for if spare parts are so scarce. This is the first time the gun industry has let me down, I mean how can noone be making these? Maybe just an excuse to get another hipower?
Guns with history are fun too. It's one of the Argentinian contract guns before they started making the licensed copies. From what I have ben able to find, many of them got refinished yet this appears original if not worn. To my untrained eye the locking lugs and cam track still seem sharp. Any other info you experts can give me? Any new info on extractor sources?
