Do you own a progressive reloading press?

i have a lock n load and was very suprised to see it leading. like the others i would have though probably the 550 would be winning

Very surprised to see that LnL AP leads w/ 46% of the vote (as of this post 126 votes)
I figured Dillon would have much more of the market share

It's not surprising at all. Dillon may have a lot of internet bragging rights and it is a fine machine. But Hornady sells a lot more machines.

Lets be real. Fewer absolute dollars to put a good machine on the bench means more machines on benches.

Do you have access to numbers or are you basing it on this poll? Poll the shooters at any IPSC/IDPA event and Dillon dominates. At the last IDPA nationals about 90 percent used Dillon.

Demographics have a big impact on poll numbers. I would bet the numbers would reverse if this same poll were posted on the Brian Enos forum, but I have no idea what color is the most popular.

Hornady sold and is selling a bunch of presses/reloading tools with that 'free bullet' deal. Of coarse, it does help to have a nice press to go along with those 'free' bullets.

I use Hornady .308 rifle bullets and I like them!

Ipsc/ipda is a small percentage of [total] reloaders.
I was the exceptional Pro 1000 user when most of the match USPSA shooters I shot with used Dillon presses. However, as already posted, match shooters represent more experienced shooters/reloaders and most of them did not start out with a Dillon press and many "upgraded" to Dillons.

If you polled the entire market share to include the entry-level reloaders who may not frequent reloading forums like us, I would not be surprised if Pro 1000 actually represented a larger percentage number.

FWIW, I do plan to buy the Hornady LNL AP as my next progressive but for now, Lee Classic Turret, Pro 1000 and the C&H 205 single stage is meeting my pistol/rifle reloading volume quite well. :D

I throw this out just to stir the pot:

It wouldn't take many IPSC/USPSA shooters to skew this poll--if it allowed both a maker selection and a total count. I'm a former sinner and I left the "I've got five-all blue" comment. Offhand I would say Dillon sells many/most IPSC/USPSA shooters two or three presses but I know more shooters than I can count with both hands and both feet who have more than three machines---one fellow has 20!

If you are talking about demographics, we should qualify the poll with:

What percentage of reloaders (match shooter and not) will actually visit THR, read this category/thread and vote on this poll? (to vote, you must create a new THR account, which means, how many reloaders will open a new THR account just to vote?)

So, this poll is a fairly small sampling of the High Road members willing to vote ...

OK, I will crawl back into my man cave now and observe. :scrutiny::D

Depends on which forum the poll is posted on.
Conduct this poll over at brianenos.com and the results would greatly favor Dillon.

lol i cant even find where to vote! Im a dillon fella though, not cause I think its better than anything else, its just what I bought and started to roll with not to long ago. I just think its a machine you can easily grow with.

I'm on my second Hornady progressive, plus I've got three single stage presses mounted around my bench. I had a Dillon 550 and sold it. It just wasn't for me.

I've loaded somewhere around 750,000 rounds of ammunition and still counting.........

Voted for what it's worth.

All Dillon Super 1050s for the low volume cartridges. Camdex for the high volume cartridges.
