Do you own a silencer?

yeah 2 of them, for my dodge flow master 40 series. Work great.

ok enough couldnt help it.

I want one but have no practical purpose for one.

Tcht, no practical purpose? There is ample purpose!

For one, to prevent hearing loss. Some countries, notably many with far more strict gun laws than our own, allow "silencers." Their pretty cheap, too, and can be had at hardware stores.

That suppressors are somehow dangerous to the public good is an idea, not a fact.

I think it would be pretty handy to fire a loud weapon suppressed. Nice, quiet, recoil dampering. Sounds good to me!

I own a Tac-63 with -65 baffles, and a homemade 304L stainless .22lr silencer. I have three AACs (7.62SD, Evo45, M4-1k) and one YHM (Cobra 9mm) at the dealer waiting to fill out the paperwork.

One of these days, when I've got some spare time and $200, I'll probably try making a suppressor. I've got machine tools (including a lathe), and plenty of aluminum round stock.

I hope that doesn't count as constructive possession.

Ear plugs seem to work fine for me.

Besides how do you fit a supressor on a muzzle loader or a 50-90 sharps or a remington model8 oe a 30-30 lever action. like I said no real practical purpose or aplication for me. However I am not against them either.

Give me a hacksaw, a die cutter, half an hour and your blue shield card and I can whip something up for ya. :D

Well, you either thread the outside of the muzzle, or if that doesn't work, cut a recessed crown and thread the inside and use a thread insert to join the barrel to the suppressor.

Zak, i am always just a little jealous when you post. Not that i have any use for guns that much better than me, but i wouldn't mind just having one.

If I make one, do I first have to get clearence and pay a tax stamp for it? Or, can I make one and apply for a tax stamp and pay the couple hundred bucks?

Not that I am trying to be a fun stoper but have you ever seen a model 8? I am sure anything can be done with enough money but how practical would $1000 worth of machine work be fojust to be able to fit a supressor?

If by practical you mean useful and by useful you mean enjoyable and if by enjoyable you mean fun and if by fun you mean badarse, well, then you gone went and answered your own question. :D:D:D:D:D

Not to tease you buddy, I can't even afford a model eight let alone a suppressor to attach to it.

Looking at an exploded diagram of the Remington model 8, it looks like a custom extended and outside threaded barrel nut (part #37) is all the would be required to mount a suppressor. If I had dimensions to work with, I'll bet I could whip one out on my lathe in a few hours.

I've got AAC Evolutions on my Sig 226 and my STI Tactical, a Tac65 on my Walther P22, a Tac 16 on my AR-SD, and I'm getting an AAC M4-1000 on my custom AK build that I'm working on now.

Here in the shop, about 3/4 of the FBMG staff have a suppresor of some kind. Uncle Barbie runs an Omni on his AR, PvtPyle is a die hard OpsInc fan and runs them on his AR and his SASS and uses a YHM Cobra on his Beretta, Atomicferret uses a Tac16, etc.

Honestly, I just really like shooting suppressed a lot more than I do unsuppressed. It makes shooting a lot more pleasant. I don't do high volume pistol shooting with them just because of the heat mirage and the size, but other than that, give me suppressed every time.

A suppressor on a Marlin 30-30 would actually be pretty damn cool... Hmmm...

Zak, that camo pic is amazing. It took a second for my eyes to make the outline of the furniture. Very nice.

SWR HEMS on an HK Tac, and a Tac65 which fits on 2 CZ 452s, a Buckmark rifle, a Buckmark pistol, and (as soon as it gets back from threading) a Browning take down semi-auto, as well as a .22 dedicated upper when Spike's finishes building it.

I've started paperwork for a 5.56 YHM Phantom.

Like others said, once you go quiet it is hard to go back.

I used to have one but she figured out how to get it off and threw it away. hasn't shut-up since...
