Do you still have your first firearm?

I still have my first rifle an Enfield No1 MkIII that I got at 13 years old and my first handgun an 1858 Pietta Remmy that I got at 18.
I think I have only given up one gun over the years a very beat up old righthanded muzzleloader I loaned to a cop and never got back. That thing had seen a lot of abuse, but I wish I still had it. I don't like thinning the herd.

Stevens 12 gauge single shot...since Christmas 1968.

I received the same thing in December of 87 and yep, still got her and always will (or at least until my son is old enough to shoot it and receive it as a gift from me just as my dad gave it to me).

jnyork, thank you for the background on your first gun! i can often be a sad memory when you sell/trade your first gun. i am very happy for you that yours was able to find its way back to you after all those years!

nope...

The first gun I ever bought, by myself, person-to-person at a flea market, was a .22 BB/CB cap parlor gun for $20. It was a weird little thing with a tremendously simple action that I thought was a .22 short. When I went and tried to stuff a short in and it wouldn't even clear the hammer, I knew I had to go to my gun guru. He was an old guy that's long passed, and he knew it right away when I walked into his shop with it. I actually used it as a prop in my 12th grade science show, I got an A+ but no place or ribbons... Ahhh the good old days before Columbine...

I sold it to my brother once I cleaned it up so I could fund the purchase of my next toy and he still has it...

No. It was a .410 single shot that my dad bought in 1974 when I was first old enough to legally hunt in PA. A couple years later, one of my uncles asked to borrow it for his kid to use in his first year hunting. Dad let him borrow it and we never saw it again. Later that same year, dad bought me a Remington Mohawk 600 in .243 for deer season. I still have it.

Yep, Winchester 62A that my Dad used for years & became mine on my 13th B'day back in '66. Can't guess how many bricks of .22 have been run through it ...

New England Pardner 12 gauge with a 3" chamber and a modified choke, got it when I was 13 for christmas and the on the 3rd shot out of it in my uncles pasture the stock cracked and had to be sent back to New England. I missed duck season waiting to get it back but when they sent it back they sent it in a soft side case with my name on it and a gift certificate for 15 bucks to wal mart (for ammo!!) along with it. The case was stolen about 4 years ago with a .410/.22 in it. So glad that was in there instead of my 12!

My father wouldn't let us shoot anything smaller than 3 inch mags out of it, said it would make us tough and treat guns with more respect.

I like to think it worked, though I shoot 2 3/4 inch out of it mostly these days.

Absolutely. It's a Ruger Bearcat that I bought new in 1966. I still take it to the range from time to time, as a matter of fact -- what a great little pistol. I also have my second firearm, and my third firearm, and my fourth firearm, my fifth and sixth firearms, my ...

Do you still have your first firearm?

Nope.

My first rifle was an okay marlin that I picked up from walmart.

Sold it.

My first handgun was an okay ruger that I picked up from a friend.

Sold it.

Didn't care for either two guns.

First shotgun I sold as well -- don't even recall what it was.

I've never been a fan of shotguns.

Only firearm that I own that has any special meaning is my grandfathers high standard.

I'll hang on to that forever.

Also it is scary accurate and fun to shoot. :D

Yep, still have it. It is a Stevens/Savage 20ga. 311E double barrel shotgun. Still in good shape after the 20+ years I've had it. Still use it every year of so to bust clays with in the backyard. Got it from a local pawnshop for $150 out the door. Great old gun. If it ever comes down to it, it'll be the last one I ever sell.:D

Yup, I still have the first firearm that I ever purchased. I bought it for myself for my 14th birthday nearly 32 years ago. It's a Marlin 39A Golden .22.

I just shot it about a week ago with my 10 year-old son. It still has the 32 year-old scope on it and I was consistently putting 60% of my shots inside a 1" bullseye at 50 yards.

I don't have the first I shot. But I do have the first gun ever I have bought my own. My CZ75B. It does have a sentimental value, a symbol of "getting free". As only free men (and women) can carry weapons.

Mossberg 20ga

Yes.

I still have my Moss 20 gauge. It's my wifes deer gun now, but I guess it's still mine...

Sort of. My first was a FIE .410 with a 30 inch full choke barrel. Current value 15 bucks. My mom just had a neighbor kick up a snake so I had the barrel chopped down to legal minimum, and 'gave' it to her with the caveat that I get it back when she passes. Hopefully she'll have it a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time. :D

I still have the first new pistol that I bought a S & W md 36 chiefs special 1969. CENTAUR 1: My md 55 has a 36" barrel, Its a Goose Gun.

yes. S&W 5904. i have had the opportunity to sell it/trade up for a number of other purchases, but i will never let this firearm go. besides the fact that it's as reliable as death/taxes, and more accurate than i could ever be, this pistol was purchased with the help of my father.

my dad is still alive and well, but his assistance in making this purchase is an intangible that can never be duplicated with another gun. i would sell every single one of my guns/cars/motorcycles and NEVER consider this gun to be "on the table"

My first gun was a Hamilton .22 Single-shot I found in a barn when I was six years old in 1950. It blew cases and spit hot powder gas in my face every shot.
I no longer have it and I'm glad.

My first shotgun was an a ancient Davenport 12 ga single-shot my dad started me out on when I was about 9.
Is was short chambered, so loose it rattled, and kicked like a stud mule on crack.
I no longer have it either, and I'm really glad!

air rifles aside...

Ithica super single break action in 20 ga. was first long gun and Auto. Ordinance 1911 was first hand gun.

Both are long gone...

No regrets.

Yes...Remington 7400 autoloader in .30-06. Bought it new in 1986, put a Redfield Lo-Pro widefield 2x7 on it and shot the heck out of it. Bought it to start hunting when I turned 18. Didn't know anyone who hunted so I get to take my first animal til I was probably 28. Bought an exotic hunt to get my feet wet.

That rifle has a 100% success rate with all 1 shot kills. Even with all the negative discussions about the Remington autos, I still can't get myself to dislike mine. I've thought about selling it, customizing it, etc. just can't do it. I've bought several hunting rifles since then but still take the Remington when I head out. Guess I'll use it til I miss.

Yep, a Mossberg store-brand .410 bolt action shotgun. I've bagged plenty of squirell, rabbit, and dove with it.
I've got a picture of me, aged 6, holding it above a squirell, with my Pawpaw, in '77. Hopefully, my daughter and grandchildren will shoot it, too.
