Does an extended charging handle help when you have a scope?

What do mean by kit?
Chest rig, backpack, etc. Depending on how you sling it, the extended latch DOES stick out, and can rub or catch on things. For a range toy, it won't matter. For a hunting rifle, it may take some consideration as to where you will sling it. For a working rifle, it can be an issue. When I am LARPing with a chest rig, the latch will fit between my chest rig mag holders, but that has not caused an issue. Yet, anyways...

I've got the BCM gunfighter mod 3 I think. The one with the biggest latch. It makes one handed manipulation of the charging handle really easy, and is especially useful when combined with the Magpul BAD lever. Locking back the bolt or clearing malfunctions becomes very easy.

I can also attest that it'll get caught up in your gear as well. But I think that trade off is worth it for the bigger latch.

I have a number of rifles with them, all of the ones I use in 3gun have them. Most of the ones I use for hunting do not but they also are always loaded.

I've not used any as of yet but I only have two ARs with rear chargers, all the rest have side chargers. In all instances I have no problem charging the gun even with a scope and my beefy hands.

I am another that uses ambidextrous charging handles and most of the ones I have are Radian Raptor charging handles. I like them for being ambidextrous plus they don't stick out too much like some other handles do.

The problem with the chargers with large handles is that they either get caught up on gear or they jab you when the rifle is slung.

I like the radian handles for most of my rigs, but on the one I carry the most, I use a daniel defense. It doesn't get caught up or jab you like most but stills gives good purchase for one finger operation. If I had it to do over again, I'd be running daniels on all of my rifles, but I already had the radians when I discovered the daniel defense.

I think it's called the grip n rip or something like that.

I have a couple with these cheaper ones from justrails and they're pretty nice, but for the most part I just use milspec ones I don't find it too difficult to use.

I finally installed mine. I got ambi ones. Optics planet back ordered as always. I got these. They work great too.

I saw these too. They were so cheap that I ordered a few just to have them around. After a couple hundred rounds, the roll pins on the one I was using worked themselves out and the handles fell off. I replaced it and the same thing happened again. I ultimately just staked the roll pins in. Although this worked, I quit using them.
