Does Walmart still sale firearms?

Seems like all the stores closest to me have stopped. Was looking for a low price on a rifle. Would be a miracle if I could find a store selling out.

I'm located within driving distance of NC/SC stores if that makes a difference.

it seems about half here in FL have em...oddly enough urbanish center walmarts got em while some rural walmarts dont, while the one closest to the local gun range has no guns but copious amounts of ammo of all types...even 380

I talked to the sporting manager of one that did have guns and he said as far as he could tell they were getting rid of the guns each time a sporting goods area was remodeled...but that was a while back and it doenst seem to be true...yet

I was told by a walmart associate near where I live that walmart has 3 classifications of store types which are basically around how rural the area around the store is. The stores in the rural classification of stores still sell firearms, the others do not.. at least that's how I understood it

they do,in Wal-Mart stores licensed to sell firearms not every store carries such license, call them I guess

I believe the one in Concord (off of 29...not the new one by Concord Mills), but I may be wrong (if I am wrong it is the one in Mooresville instead; best to call and verify if you live a ways out). I think that is the only one left in the Charlotte area. BTW, a great gun shop in this area is Eagle Guns, also in Concord; they have great deals, great service, and it helps support the local economy.

:)

Yes, Wal-Mart still sells firearms. At the stores where firearms produce enough sales volume to warrant keeping them at the counter.

Wrong. They remodeled my local Walmart's sporting goods counter (and moved it in the store) and firearms are still for sale.

To the OP- I'm down in Greenwood, but I figure you don't want to drive that far. I don't know about Greenville/Spartanburg WMs. The one in Anderson does not sell firearms, last time I checked.

every time I go to my local WallyWorld the gun rack is empty and the ammo shelves only have shotshell and CCI stingers.

They must make a decent killing on firearms.

First off a Wal Mart thread so ... "Hi Justin!"

And yeah, plenty of them still sell guns. It's not political when they stop usually, just economics.

Wal Mart is better than just about any company that's ever existed at figuring out exactly what is selling and what's not, and how much money per square inch of store costs. If they can make a .05% improvement in sales by removing gun racks and adding blenders, they will do it.

there are 4 - 5 walmarts in my area 70 miles radius some in PA some in NY none have firearms any longer, however the do sell ammo, and the ones in PA muzzle-loaders during hunting season... But there are Dicks, and Gander Mt which stock plenty of long guns. For reloading supplies I have to use privately own shops, because Gander Mt has nothing, they stopped carrying supplies like 3 -4 years ago, there is another option 3 hour drive to Cabelas they got very nice selection...

If the OP can indicate WHERE in NC/SC area he/she is coming from, it may help. I do know that WalMart in the following areas DO carry firearms:

Simpsonville, SC
Mooresville, NC

None of the Char/Meck stores carry firearms that I know of.

I live in the Dallas Metroplex area and I only know of a couple by me that still carries firearms. There are Walmarts everywhere you look, but the long guns have mostly disappeared. There are plenty of Walmarts in Arkansas that still carry long guns.

I'm wondering if Landman was asking about low-price sales deals, or continuance of selling.
Me too, considering he touched on both topics in his post. I'm trying to decide if your comment was literal or sarcastic

Landman; I would recommend calling your local stores and simply asking them. Save the gas.

I live in NC, but am in VA frequently and shop in Galax, VA Walmart often. I find that they have a good supply of firearms and ammo and have a fairly good reloading area with tooling and components.

my walmart here in macclenny fl still sells guns. but we are a small country town, everybody hunts and shoots. so they ALWAYS have the ammo i need in stock

All the Wal-Marts on the MS Gulf Coast do not sell firearms anymore due to Hurricanes and the ATF and insurance. After Katrina the Wal-Marts quit selling guns because during Katrina their whole inventory was washed away or stolen so the ATF came down hard on them. Thats what all the "associates" have told me.
