One scary thing about many scenarios like that is when a girl who is being beaten up or abused by some scumbag she's attached to, she actually backs the guy up in the end!
This is certainly a concern. If she was dumb enough to choose him in the first place then she’s probably dumb enough to take his side in court. Abused women going back to their abusers over and over again is so common it’s a cliché.

When someone uses the term “sheepdog” then I no longer care about anything else they have to say. The whole sheepdog thing is just fantasy/LARPing with a gun.

This isn't a "female" issue. Abused men also go back to their spouses/significant others time and time again after being physically or mentally abused and will fight cops over arresting their abusive partners and even argue for them in court.

This isn't a "dumb" issue either, but is much more emotionally complex. There are very highly intelligent and well educated people who are the victims of abuse as well that fall into the same terrible behavior patterns.

“Dumb” is an action, not an aptitude. Intelligent people do some of the dumbest things. “Stupid is as stupid does,” as Forest Gump would say.
