Personally, I'm not a Merkel fan at all!

BUT, 17 years ago that Merkel would of sold new, for a heck of a lot less than that asking price...

I have to agree with you on the Merkle thing. I really am not a fan of their double rifles.

I have a double rifle built for me by V M Starr. He sleeved an old 12 gauge down to 45-70. Regulated at 80 yards. Good shooter but a heavy carry. I wish I had started with a 20!

Nope, for me it would have to be a Holland, Purdy or Westly Richards. One of the advantages of having great taste and a beer budget is all the money you save.

If I had the bucks to blow it’d be on a Rigby drop lock.

1960's or 70's vintage MTs110, probably. Just like MTs111 has been a showstopper in hunts where literally half a dozen other hunters have brought their H&H Royals. Aficionado-level, state visit gift exclusivity, even though Russian oligarchs who still remember photos of Brezhnev, Tito, Ceausescu and other ex-combloc leaders hunting with them have driven the hammer prices of Soviet-era best doubles up lately.
