if money were no object, what rifles would you buy?

I am happy to tell you that I have it. (and money is an object for me) It is a Finnlight in 6.5 X 55 with a Leupold Compact 3X9 scope. Love it; love it; love it!

An Expanded Dream

Let's say I won the lottery. So, now I have $100,000,000.00 post-tax. What do I do? Simple, put away enough to never have to worry about spending it all and ending up in the poor house.

Then, I would pass the remainder of my life funding people's dream-hunts, including the purchase of their favorite dream rifle/pistol/shotgun for the hunt. I would hire a guide/videography, and I would participate in the hunt with them. Then, I would publish that same in a monthly or quarterly journal.

Seriously...that is my dream. I guess I am blessed. I do not have hundreds of firearms, in fact, I have very few firearms! But I do have all that I need, and 99% of what I want. My needs and wants are very simple. The only remaining firearms I could ever possibly want would be:

1) Serbu or Armalite AR-50
2) A custom-barreled Savage single-shot rifle in .260 Rem

That's it. But, in truth, this is my dream. By the way, I am not talking about funding people's dreams because they are about to die. Anyone and everyone, who lacks the money to be able to take the hunt could apply, regardless of income (you know, income/debt ratio based).

An Erma SR-100 with all three barrels and mags,
A true custom built to my specs 1911 by Wilson,
A Tactical Operations Tango 51
A high end embellished shotgun and rifle just to "look" at. And shoot of course!

A custom Doug Turnbull Win '86 lever action in 45 or 50 cal.
A fine double rifle from Britain or Germany.
A German stalking rifle like a Merkel or Kreighoff.
One of those double-barreled hand canons the Brits used in India to fend off tigers. Can't think of the name right now.

If money were no object...

AI in .338 lapua
EDM Windrunner in .408 Chey
Sako TRG in .308 Win.
Colt AR15 in .223
AK-74SU in 5.45
Dragunov SVD
Rem 700 in M40A3 configuration
FAMAS
Steyr AUG

I think that's all I'd want at this point... I'm sure if I had unlimited funds, I'd find more to buy... Most of those are actually ones I could get in CA, and a couple of them are almost affordable...

My desires are simple...

...A ULA M-20 action with a 18 1/2" Douglas premium lightweight barrel in .257 Roberts, with the action further lightened as much as possible (fluted bolt, hollow bolt handle, etc), and the lightest stock I could get. The final object would be a fully loaded rifle, with sling and a good set of Williams peep sights that weighs under (hopefully well under) five pounds.

And a SVD...

I can't believe no one said it yet...

:neener:
A phased plasma rifle in the 40-watt range.
:neener:

Realistically, a Dakota action .300WinMag set up Southpaw-style with a Shepherd scope.
A Barrett M82 .50BMG.
A match-grade LRB-receivered M14 with a happy switch.
And an inexpensive .223 bolt action, also southpawed up with some cheap but good glass on it for hiking around. A savage, perhaps.

And two semi-trailers filled with 5.56Nato, 7.62Nato, 50BMG and 300winmag ammunition.

I've actually found most of my dream guns already. I'd like to get a P225 again and a No. 1 in 375 H&H. And I'd like to spend some money getting custom work done on what I have. But I really don't have any desire to have super high end firearms, since I'd spend too much time worrying about scratching them and protecting them from theft. One of my rules is have no more firearms than I can carry. Another is have no firearms I can't drop on the rocks.

$$ Not An Issue.....hehehe

I'd buy Marlin.

Then, I would decree that the the Model 39-17 CB be created. It would be a .17 HMR, based on the Model 39a, and would sport a 22" octagon barrel and Marble's sights. Color case hardened finish on the receiver. Extra nice walnut for the stock. Hand cut checkering......

Think it would sell? Would YOU buy one?

And as King and HMFIC, I would FIRE the first manager that questioned me.

...well, somebody gots to make em listen to reason....:)
