Time to turn in here .... took snub outa holster to lay on floor by bed, as per ..... but thought and looked ... oops ... no ammo!!!!!!!!!

I had given it a clean and lube (more a case of fight the effects of sweat!) ..... and having done that, re holstered ..... EMPTY!

Situation now ..... of course remedied but hey .... what's the use of an empty gun?! ''Click'' ........... red face .. or worse!!

I think I could only do this with a revo ...

Not a good move!!!

Thank goodness nobody else saw it happen. :)

I've had similar gaffs. Once I thought I had a round in the pipe, only to clear the weapon later and find it empty.

The other time I left a round in the pipe and thought it was empty. My friend and I got an extremely good lesson in weapons handling that time. We've always followed the practice of clearing a weapon before handing it to someone, unless it is specifically and clearly stated that the weapon is hot ("full mag, round chambered, safety on"). That day I locked the slide of my Glock 17 to the rear, to hand it to my buddy, and was very surprised to see a Gold Dot hit the deck. :uhoh:

No harm, no foul, but it's a wake up call.

Oops! Never happened to me, but then again I have only carried auto pistols, no revolver yet, and it is rather hard to miss that protruding magazine baseplate. As I've always been told when I screw up, we learn from our mistakes. I'm glad this lesson didn't cost you more than raised eyebrows and an "Oh S**T".:D

Hence the adage: "Never holster an empty gun..."

And it's little known addendum: "...and draw practice is for suckers."

:p

No,I haven't. I keep all my weapons unloaded and locked in the safe except for my .45 Kimber, which I carry, and my primary home defense gun which is a 12 gauge Winchester 1300. My wife has her .38 Det. Spl stashed in a kitchen cabinet when she's home. We have 2 grand kids age 4 and 18 months so we have to keep track of all weapons and their condition.

...and having done that, re holstered ..... EMPTY!

Storing firearms in holsters—unless they're plastic—almost inevitably leads to corrosion.

I store my .22s empty; all my center fire hand guns, however, are fully loaded at all times, even when they're secured in the safe.

No yet, but never say never.

Sounds similar to the story someone posted about going to a gun show and and a week later noticing they still had the plastic zip-tie thru the gun and had been carrying it like that! :what:
