Excessive threads locking here

I belong to 5 gun forums. I would say on average this site locks twice as many threads with only half as many threads created as the other 4 combined. Fairly amazing to me.

Not sure why on a gun site where everyone lobbies for a basic constitutional freedom (the second) another constitutional freedom (the first) is overlooked so frequently. As long as the topic is gun related even tangentially it should be allowed to be freely discussed.

This site is just so over moderated it's ridiculous!

The first amendment doesn't exist here. The 1st protects your right to speech from the government. This is a private place, the 1A doesn't apply.

This is a private venue, so they can lock what they want to lock. I agree, of all the gun forums I am on, this one locks many, many times more than the average. But it is their house and their call.

It is annoying but would you rather have ARFCOM and the constant hostile attacks? I'd love to get all political too but all it does is alienate people and drive off the sensible folk leaving the hotheads behind..

Welcome to the forum. I think that with some more time on the site you'll get a feel for how things are run. I've had maybe one or two threads of mine locked in all the years I've been here. The moderators have a show to run and I think you'll find they do an admirable job of balancing everything.

Next time you disagree with the actions taken by staff please address the issue with the staff member or members in questions. Yes, I've locked a bunch of threads in the last day or so but THR is not the rest of the internet and our standards are much higher. Fall below that mark and I'll close it down.
