i like being different! favorite is my 218 bee, dont use much powder, isnt very loud, accurate, and effective for what I use it for. following it are my 250 savage, 257 roberts, 6mm06Ai, 38/55 and 8mm rem mags

My favorite would be the 7x57.
Second would be 257Roberts
I had to flip a coin to decide on that. Out side of .22's and the .223 they are my favorite rounds especially in their improved forms.

Egad! I have so many. All are my favorite. Although, come to think of it, some are more favorite than others.

17 Mach IV
22K Hornet
218 Mashburn Bee
219 Zipper Improved
22 6MM Improved
32-40
38-55
40-65 Winchester
40-85 Ballard
45-90
45-100

17 Mach IV (Remington introduced an almost identical twin in 17 Fireball)Would have to be my most favorite. Almost no recoil and incredible accuracy. I probably will request that this rifle be placed in my casket with me when I get buried.

22 6MM IMP would be my next choice. My AT&T rifle has impressive accuracy and able to make long distance calls on unsuspecting critters with little effort.

45-90 would be my favorite black powder cartridge. Severe recoil, but when you wear a cowboy hat and chaps, you kinda get the feeling of how Mathew Quigley must have felt.

Offbeat caliber of choice?

For me it has to be 7.62x54r. Have spent many an hour shooting and learning this caliber. Reload/test load for it, lot of related component/tool/literature laying about, use it in military bolt action rifle matches.

The .250/3000 Savage. I have two, a Savage 99A and a very early Ruger M77. In handguns it's my .38sup Colt 1911 series 70.

300 H&H - I love this cartridge, smooth feeding and smooth shooting and accurate as hell.
219 Donaldson Wasp - I just love this little guy.

6.5x50 Japanese for the Arisaka type 38.

For me it has to be 7.62x54r

I don't really consider this an oddball round. Sure, you won't find them at Wal-Mart, but Cabela's, Gander Mtn, Bass Pro and dozens of sites online keep mass quantities in stock. Thank goodness for that, I'd be sad if I couldn't shoot my M-44.

I shoot a lot of oddball calibers, but my favorites are .30 US Army (Krag) and .44 S&W Russian. Why? Because I can hit what I'm shooting at with them! Also like 7.5x55 and 7.7x58.

I'm just looking into what will fit the AR platform based on the .223/5.56 cases so it will use the same bolt face and mags. I'm aware of the 6x45, and .300 Whisper/Fireball/Blackout so far but want to find out what else is in between. After all there's still 6.5, 6.8, 7, and 7.5. I just don't know what's been done with them so far. I'm not looking at creating a new cartridge, just playing with something different.

8x52R Siamese

Great shooter, oddball case, oddball bullet, dies that actually fit the chamber are hard to find, no reloading data, magazine fed rimmed Mauser, made in Japan, not a wildcat but no ammo was apparently ever imported so even though it is a standard military arm it is a cat-dog.

218 bee-quiet and accurate,a cool round in a little martini cadet rifle;30 and 35 herretts-fun to form brass, and different from the crowd at the range;.375 win-just plain fun to shoot;444 rifle(night night bambi),444 contender,it left some oddball marks on the web of my hand.

The Winchester .256 in a Marlin lever gun. That's an odd bird, but fun round/gun combination. Another round that is off the radar is the .32 Winchester Special. It works well in my old Model 94. In fact I sold a newer model 94 in 30-30 and kept the .32WS. Go figure. Then there's always the Remington 5mm Mag. The little rimfire that wasn't satisfied dying a slow agonizing death just once. It wants to do it again.

Compared to the US I guess I shoot a few odd ball calibers, 8x60S, 7.5x55 Swiss, 7.5 MAS, .222 Rem, .222 Rem Mag

Don't own any true oddballs, but really enjoy my 6.5x55's and 7mm mauser (7x57). Perfect for the type of hunting that I do which is primarily deer and hogs. The .257 Roberts is on my short list.

41 Rem. Mag. not really an oddball, but a little hard to find. I mostly use a Ruger Redhawk in blue with a 5.5" barrel and a Marlin 1894 FG levergun with heavy cast bullet loads for fun and pretty much factory type loads in S&W Mod 57's. Love the 41's.
