Your Favorite Rifle

I only have 3 rifles. SKS, Mosin carbine and a CZ 527 carbine in x39.

I haven't shot a lot of different rifles like most on here, but there's just something addictive about the CZ. The cartridge is fairly powerful but reasonably soft shooting and probably one of the cheapest centerfire rifle rounds available. I just can't stop shooting the damn thing.

Sure my friend's Arsenal AK is really fun, but you eat through so much ammo in a hurry and then the fun is over. The SKS is alright but too heavy for my liking.

I like the AR too, just can't get over the price on those things.

My favorite in the first two catagories (shooter and aesthetics) is my M4 style Bushmaster.

Favorite in terms of caliber would be my .30-06 Savage 110. Powerful enough to take down anything I'll ever encounter, and better range than any of my other rifles.

"Honorable mention" would have to be my Yugo SKS. Both the rifle itself, and ammo, are cheap... thats a plus. Recoil is low, and fun to shoot. Its ugly, but for some reason you gotta love it.

Tough Choices

Entertainment - Iron Sight Superlite Bushmaster AR-15. Ace Stock, Jard Drop-In Trigger. A hoot in our shoot house at the club. It's like the Energizer Bunny...just keeps running.

Rifle with History - The Enfield I got from my father-in-law before he passed on. I put a synthetic stock on it because the wood was in tough shape. It kept throwing scope mounts off, so I said "okay, you can be an irons gun". The Huber Concepts trigger breaks between 1.5 - 2#.

Favorite Caliber - .308 is growing on me. Recently got a "pre-converted" Saiga .308 that needed some more "converting". It runs fine now after some "surgery", and I'm really enjoying it. I have a new Savage 10FP in .308 that needs to get dirty, SOON!

Safe Shooting,

My favorite for just tossing lead, well, that's either a 10/22 or a Marlin 1894PG. Or maybe the AR-15 match rifle, which is scary accurate and uber-easy to shoot. Yeah, make it the AR for category #1.

For aesthetics and history, I really do like my Marlin levergun. It's the classic American rifle IMO, though I do sacrifice tradition and go with a William's Guide Sight on it. This one is a hoot to shoot out to 100 yards.

Category #3, my favorite rifle round, is probably the .45-70. I just love this big ol' low-pressure classic, and it is pretty accurate in my T/C Encore too. The only negative I have against it is the amount of recoil generated in the 6-lb T/C. Of course, for its power-class, it is quite manageable. Honorable mentions would be the .223, which has proven quite accurate and easy to work with out to 600 yards, and the little .22LR.

1. Favorite shooter-- any repeating .22LR, such as my 10/22 or an old Remmie pump I had when I was younger (a true plinker-- iron sights only).

2. Favorite gun-- I like my Rem 700 LTR .308/Leupold Mk IV/Ken Farrell rings&mounts. I also like my brother's Ruger No. 1 in .22-250 (Bicentennial year).

3. Favorite caliber-- .308 or .22 mag (although I would like to get a .17HMR someday).

Fun gun: Cowboy up with a .44 mag Marlin 1984 CB, octagon barrel, buckhorns... just plain FUN.

Always rifle: have been hunting with a Savage 110 or 116 .30-06 for nearly 20 years.

Fave caliber: still .30-06 for versatility.

I have a couple semi-auto rifles, but that Marlin is just one big can o yeee-hawww!

1. Favorite shooter: My M1 Carbine :D

I realize many just read titles but the OP said "price is not a factor" for ammunition.

I prefer Mauser rifles chambered in 8mm Mauser(JS) or .30-06.

1. Favorite shooter: the rifle which you find to be the most entertaining to shoot out of your collection.

2. Favorite on aesthetics, history, uniqueness, other: Just a rifle you like in particular, but may not be a great shooter.

3. Caliber: Your favorite rifle caliber. Price is not a factor. You must have at least one gun chambered for it. Does not necessarily have to be a rifle caliber (pistol caliber carbines).

Favorite shooter: AR-HBAR and SAI M1A; M1 Garand (circa Nov. '43)

Favorite on aesthetics: SAI M1A and K98k Mauser (georgeous rifle!)

Favorite caliber: Too tough to call. .223/5.56mm NATO; .308/7.52x51mm NATO; .30-'06; 8mm Mauser; .45/70 Gov't. Heck, I like them all!

Favorite Shooter- CZ 452 with irons. Have a scope on it now, but I still prefer irons.
Aesthetically/ Historically pleasing- Hnery Golden Boy.

After 20 years of collecting and shooting most of the major battle rifles of WWI, WWII, and Korea, there is one rifle that that stands heads and shoulders above the rest; the M1 Garand. I could sell them all but I could never be without at least one Garand. JMHO

Rifle : FAL I built and hit a watermelon with ( at 300 yards!!! ) with the first shot - literally.

Caliber : I have a strong affection to any, and I mean ANY 7mm offering. from the 7-08 to the 7mm Ultra Mag, got 'em all. For what you get from the 7 mag, it is my absolute favorite.

1. Favorite shooter: the rifle which you find to be the most entertaining to shoot out of your collection. I would definitely have to say that my Mosin Nagant Carbines are the most entertaining to shoot. There's just something wrong about a rifle that knocks down targets on the lane next to you from the shockwave. Swedish M-96 as well. It's just a comfortable rifle to shoot. Followed by the M-1 Carbine. I can shoot one of these all day and I like the fact that 30 round magazines exist for it.

2. Favorite on aesthetics, history, uniqueness, other: Just a rifle you like in particular, but may not be a great shooter. This is a toss up between my K-31 and Rock-Ola M-1 Carbine. One is a milsurp rifle that never saw conflict, and one was war-time production made by a Juke Box manufacturer.

3. Caliber: Your favorite rifle caliber. Price is not a factor. You must have at least one gun chambered for it. Does not necessarily have to be a rifle caliber (pistol caliber carbines). Rifle caliber: 7.62X54R. It's been going strong since 1891.

1: Ruger 10/22M modded for .17HMR.

2: Any one of these :

Some great choices and pix.

For me, a simple man, .22LR and one of my iron sighted CZ-452s would probably do the trick for all three categories.

Favorite shooter - 63 Winchester

Rifle with most history between a 07 Winchester in .351slr cal. and a No. 5 mk 1 "jungle" carbine.

Favorite caliber .22 lr.
