Which one of your rifles is your absolute favorite?
Just one rule the rifles you select must be your own.

There are three categories:

1. Favorite shooter: the rifle which you find to be the most entertaining to shoot out of your collection.

2. Favorite on aesthetics, history, uniqueness, other: Just a rifle you like in particular, but may not be a great shooter.

3. Caliber: Your favorite rifle caliber. Price is not a factor. You must have at least one gun chambered for it. Does not necessarily have to be a rifle caliber (pistol caliber carbines).

Pictures are encouraged but not a requirement.

AR15 carbine in 5.56 with an ACOG

I shoot my AR15 carbines the most. The 16" is an excellent length as it gives you a great compromise in size/weight/velocity, etc... and is still long enough that I can swap out the muzzle device with ease.

5.56 is (somewhat) affordable in comparison to many others, common, gives light recoil for fast follow up shots, is light enough to carry a lot, has a wide variety of ammo selection, and has respectable stopping power, range, and accuracy.

The AR15 can be extremely reliable, is very fun to shoot, extremely accurate, and it's ergonomics and modularity are unmatched.

It has a long history as the longest service rifle in the US military for a good reason. It gets the job done.

Most fun to shoot: My 10/22. No question. Accurate, and doesn't beat me up like my other rifles do.

Favroite on aesthetics, history, etc, probably my M44 since it might have actually seen combat in World War 2.

Favroite caliber: .22LR Cheap, plentiful, low recoil, accurate. What's not to love?

Ever since the long gun range I frequent was shut down, I have shot primarily pistol calibers at handgun ranges :( So, my current fave is one of these -- my 9mm AR is my current fave

1. Favorite shooter: My SKS
Clean it and it works, dirty it, and it works, bury it in the backyard and it works- quite well.

2. Favorite on aesthetics, history, uniqueness, other: SR M1911
Schmidt Rubin: stamps say it's old, it's got a P-stamp, says it was reworked by Hammerli, but also has vetterli marks! -Dunno how significant that is, but I managed to pick it up at the bottom of a neglected gun rack so blah!
After lots of cleaning:

3. Caliber: 7.5x55 swiss: dunno why, I just have a lot of it, weeks ago it would be 7.62x54R but the more the ammo, the more I'm gonna shoot it.

I'm going to bend the rules, and include rifles I used to own.

Favorite shooter - Swede Mauser in 6.5x55, shortened and re-crowned to 17", and with scope rings permanently installed. I could hit anything with that rifle, and I wouldn't mind having it again. I actually slapped a 6-24x50mm on it; though it looked ridiculous, it was certainly accurate enough.

Most history would be my Remington Model 12CS in .22 WRF. It was my Grandfather's, who I never had the chance to meet. My dad can shoot it better than I can.

Caliber would be 7.62x39. Back when I had my AK, it was cheap, powerful enough to do its job well, and wasn't bad on recoil at all. And I could easily tell it apart from my other calibers... something I have trouble with on occasion. "Hey, is this Yugo 8mm?" "No, it's .30-06..."

For starters I would say my favorite overall is my 1903 Springfield, it has a great history, shoots decent, and is just a nice looking pc of steel and wood, not to mention it was my grandfather's.

As for your list

1. My fav shooter would have to start with any of my .22s. Having the opportunity to put rounds down range is just a great thing. (If I had to pick one of them I would have to say my Marlin 39A golden mountie or my Remington 572 Fieldmaster)

2. Favorite on aesthetics is my Browning BLR 81 lightweight in 308. I love the look and feel of the gun, and it is a sweet shooting little pc.

3. Caliber: well I would have to go with the old 30-06. I have 4 rifles in that cal (including my 1903) it was the cal I cut my centerfire teeth on (learned to shoot with, took my first deer with, etc). The 06 is a time tested round that has proven to be versatile enough to take just about every type of big game in the world, accurate enough to be a tremendous long range target round, and has been employed to defend our nation in numerous wars, conflicts, and police actions. Not gonna start a cal war here, but even with its flaws it is in my mind the greatest cal round that there is.

or my FAL.

or my pencil barrel 1968 M16A1-uppered A1 clone.

or my M1.

Used to be a Springfield 03 for all three categories... but it now runs a very close second place to my 96 Swedish Mauser, again thinking of all three categories listed. Shooter, Aesthetics and Caliber.

Both are very close to, if not actually, perfection, to my way of thinking. My Savage Enfield No4, MkI ranks right up there as well, but it's definitely in third place. Must be a bolt action thing.

Shooter - Saiga in 7.62x39. Built to be scratched up - an absolute blast to shoot.

Asthetics... don't own any pretty guns. Mine are all exceptionally practical. But I must say that despite what everyone else says I find the CZ-52 very attractive.
:neener:

My M1 Garand in 30-06 for all three questions as well.
It is extremly accurate with my handloads.
I appreciate the form and function of modern rifles with thier modularity and synthetic parts, but the steel and wood of a Garand is a work of art. My Garand is more than just a tool, it feels like part of the family.

Category 1:
I've got a CZ 452 in 17HMR with a mannlicher stock that is too much fun to shoot....

Category 2:
And while the 452 is a sweet looking rig...the furniture on my Tikka T3 Hunter in 270WSM is more asthetically pleasing...

I have two

The one that is the most fun to shoot and is the most accurate is my 6.5 Grendel. It is an Alexander Arms 24” upper on a DPMS lower with a Jewel trigger and Nightforce 3.5-15 scope. The thing just amazing, and it continues to impress me.

My other favorite is the Win 94 that my Grandfather gave me. I have some great memories of carrying that rifle in the woods and taking a few deer with Gramps.

my favorite rifle I own is my Remmington 700 VS synthetic-stocked .223 topped with a Buck Ridge 6-24x50mm scope. The scope is a recent addition, for most of the time I have used this rifle, it has been equiped with a Gamewiner 4x30mm scope that worked great. I love this rifle to death and have taken 25 of my 29 deer with it

I'd hafta say....

Either my 336RC or 1894 Winchester, the winnie in .357 mag, and 336RC in 30-30. Both favorites to shoot, have the histroy thing for sure, and are sweet looking! Love those guy's! I have a bunch of rifles, but these two....there's just something about the lever gun~!

Most entertaining to shoot? M44 Mosin Nagant. I'd say my M1A, but it's honestly not all that fun to shoot when I know I'm burning 50 cents per round.

Aesthetics? M1A, no contest.

Favourite caliber... Oh boy. I'd have to say .308.

1. Favorite shooter: the rifle which you find to be the most entertaining to shoot out of your collection.
Number one choice, M82 Kimber in .22 Long Rifle. It's aesthetically pleasing, dead accurate and cheap to shoot -- you can't beat that combination.

2. Favorite on aesthetics, history, uniqueness, other: Just a rifle you like in particular, but may not be a great shooter.
A tossup between Bigfoot Wallace, my custom '03 Springfield in .35 Brown-Whelen and Fionn MacCumhail, my pre-'64 Winchester Model 70 in .30-06.

The former is my "heavy" rifle, used mostly for elk. The latter was made in 1939, has been on safari in Africa, and has all the character in the world -- including an inletted grip cap with the original owner's name and a Redfield peep snuggled under the scope. When I got it, it had a 7/8" Lyman scope on it.

3. Caliber: Your favorite rifle caliber. Price is not a factor. You must have at least one gun chambered for it. Does not necessarily have to be a rifle caliber (pistol caliber carbines).

A tossup between .22 LR (hard to beat for price and fun) and .30-06.
