Favorite polymer .45 ACP?

USP 45 is my only .45acp so my vote goes there. Looks like a tank and runs like one too. That and my P99 are the only ones I'd trust my life with. Everything else I have is .22lr or 9mm. But I'm seriously considering the XD45 as my next acquisition.

Fnp-45

I just bought an FNP-45. The gun is big, but I have pretty large hands, long and slender type, and it is fantastic. I find it to fit my hand better than the HK USP. I also find it to be easier to shoot than the USP, and more accurate than the USP. Phenomenally accurate actually. Stainless barrel and slide, exceptional machining, clean looks and 14 round capacity make it a winner in my book. $599 with a case and 3 mags. That's hard to beat. I've shot quite a few full size .45s, and this gun is my favorite within this category of arms.

I was very disappointed when I found out that the FNP45 hasn't made the DOJ list of approved handguns yet. Maybe next year.

I guess my Charles Daly M-5 Commander would be my favorite poly 45 even though I have yet to shoot it since it's my only poly 45...

Another happy XD-45 owner here. It is my primary carry gun, and I am thrilled with it.

I will say also that my buddy has a M&P 45 and I think it is a great gun as well, I don't think you could go wrong either way.

M&P45... There is a reason that more LE departments have moved to this platform than any other since it was introduced in 2006. The M&P has won more than 370 NEW "issued weapon" contracts since its introduction. Most of those contracts have come at the expense of Glock and Sig Sauer. Springfield's XD does not have any "issued weapon" contracts to lose... XD's have only been able to make it onto approved for carry lists so far.

If you're talking about mine, it's actually tan, but that photo was a little poorly lit. They stopped making the color framed USP, USPc, and MK23 a while back. They made them in tan, olive drab, and gray, IIRC. I think CDNN had some recently, as did Bud's, but after the craze has hit, who knows what's left.

Oops my bad. Looks nice man. Maybe if I find one I may have to jump on it hahah.

Guys, I've read so many people that said the trigger is not exactly great on the XD's. What are your thoughts? I don't remember the trigger on it at all although I got to fondle it once.

I tried dry firing the M&P and it had a very stout and relatively crisp break but I didn't like the reset. Although it wasn't too long, it was almost impossible to feel. Well, at least compared to my HK USP9. The USP9's break is sort of flexy or I guess I can say mushy but I'm thinking of installing a factory match trigger. The 45, I really don't want any trigger work done as it'll be used for self defense at home. I'm sure there's good trigger work for that too but I haven't researched anything about it except people seem to recommend Canyon Creek Custom.

I love my 24/7Pro, followed by my pair of P97's. The Taurus has features I like: impeccably short trigger reset, lever safety, 12rd. capacity, ergos that beat many double-stack 9mm's, slim slide (1" thick), etc.

Interested in a FNP45.

Love the looks of the USP45 but ergos feel poor to my hand.

HK45 has better ergos but only 10rds.

M&P45: poor trigger reset, only 10rds. but now with ambi lever safety.

XD45: ambi lever safety available, but poor ergos & trigger reset IMO. High bore axis for striker pistol.

Glock: it's a reliable brick that holds 13rds.

Another vote for the XD45.

My 5 inch tactical with a CLR-1 is my house gun.

Having said that, go rent a few of the ones suggested and make up your mind that way.

Taurus PT 845

This is the Surprise Gun of the Year! Totally Reliable-Absolutely Accurate! Taurus has a real Winner!:)

The Best to You and Yours!

I'm in love with my M&P 45ACP with a safety. I couldn't deal with the glock's handle angle and lack of a safety. Plus I am left handed so the ambi controls on the MP are excellent and I love the ergos of it. My only gripe is the trigger.

XD 5" Tactical. If I absolutely, positively had to have a poly-framed .45ACP, that would be it--though I'd probably also take a look at the M&P45 as a close second.

I have fiddled with the Glocks, the XD and the M&P. I recently shopped an HK vs the FNP-45 USG, the version that can be carried cocked and locked, and choose the FN. It had all the features I look for in a pistol, it has great workmanship, a complete package of accesories and is made in the USA.
