Buffalo Bore, Doubletap and Corbon all make a hotter 115gr round than the 9BPLE+P+, but it is a very good round.
Doubletap 115gr+P - 1415fps adv.
Buffalo Bore 115gr+P - 1400fps adv.
Corbon Sierra 115gr+P - 1350fps adv. (some lots will chrono 1400 avg)
9BPLE- 1300fps adv.
The Magtech load is 1330fps adv.
115 grain "C9BP" appears among Federal´s current product listings, but not "9BPLE."
The same can be said for Corbon and the Gold Dot hollowpoint used in both Buffalo Bore and Doubletap ammo. (though they have had to switch to other hollowpoint designs at times because of limited availability from speer.)The big difference is that the 9BPLE is well proven in many, many actual shootings. It's a bullet/velocity combo that works very well on people and has a reputation for reliable function and accuracy regardless of weapon choice. And, you don't have to take Federal's word for it, that reputation came from people using it on the job, not an advertising agency. If I didn't have 9BPLE I'd be buying Winchester Ranger 115gr +P+, it's the next best thing.
BTW, I got an average of 1307fps from 9BPLE out of a HK USP. Magtech 115gr JHP +P could only manage 1188fps, not so hot when WWB 115gr FMJ clocked at 1176fps.

Higher velocity is not "advertising hype."There may have been some civilian shootings where Buffalo Bore or Double Tap was used but I'm unaware of any LE agencies using either brand, maybe some are but I haven't heard of them. 9BPLE has been used with great success for many years by lots of different agencies and has proven track record on people, that's more important to me than advertising hype. I still carry it on and off duty.
1233fps is not even +P+, it's just regular old +P. Get yourself some Corbon Sierra JHP. 1350-1400fps real world velocity with the same weight bullet, or you can get their excellent DPX+P that uses the solid copper Barnes HP, which shows 100%+ expansion in testing, in pretty much all calibers.I just got back from the range and the Magtech 115gr JHP +P+ clocked in at a ten shot average of 1233fps out of a S&W Model 910 w/ a 4" barrel. I will still carry my last mag of 9BPLE in my 910, but I'm comfortable with the magtech ammo in my spare mags. The ammo is very accurate and provides decent performance until I can find some more federal ammo!

9BPLE has been around the longest and has earned it's reputation on the job,
The major thing about 9BPLE was the great price
