I was talking to a friend who said he found an article on the internet and interview with the head of Vista Outdoor this guy says that Federal is catching up with their production lags and he expects that they will be caught up with their back orders by the middle of August.
Apparently he did not mention CCI. This is good news for me since Federal makes most of the ammo that I use 357 Magnum 9 mm 38 Special and of course CCI makes 22wmr.
Don't know if I will ever again find ammo for my old Winchester model 94 seems like 30 30 is just a dying caliber. There is some out there on the internet but they want like $75 for 20 rounds ouch!!:what:

Well, a quicky check of Ammoseek for several calibers I'm interested in does how more availability than the last several times I checked. Prices are still stratospheric though.

For the cost of several boxes of .30-30 I can finish kitting out my bullet casting set up.

I wonder if they will reorganize for greater efficiency, especially now that they've acquired Remington. Meaning, at the highest level of the company, it doesn't matter if it's Federal, CCI or Remington on the box. And in the current high demand, it might make sense to have 1 brand running 1 cal, another brand running something different, etc. So, maybe Remington makes 30-30, while Federal pumps out 308, etc.

I don't think it's dying, but I don't think it's "normally" in nearly as high a demand as say, 223. Meaning, guys arent buying 30-30 in bulk and burning through 100's of them at the range. So they never make a HUGE amount, just enough to stock the shelves.

And now, if it goes bang, it's been bought. So it may be awhile before more get made. When someone makes their next run, in theory it should be enough to last awhile, again. Unless the hoarder/flippers are scooping it up.

I'm starting to see reports of more ammo showing up. Stores though are cautious about selling it though. Local indoor store/range just got in about 40k of 9mm, but they're limiting it to 2boxes per day per RANGE customer.

You know... I managed to time things just right and stopped in a local big-box store this week when they happened to get a shipment in. I was pleasantly surprised to find a LOT of Remington green boxes in that shipment - something I haven't seen in a very long time. It wasn't surprising given the troubles Remington has been having, but it was encouraging to see those green boxes. Perhaps Vista Outdoors is indeed getting the Remington production ramped back up.

I have also seen a big stack of Remington buckshot and slugs within the last few weeks

There seemd to be a ton of that CCL Blazer Brass out there. Is that suitable for self defence or just range junk?

30-30 dying out? Nay, nay....lots of guys looking for 30-30 ammo. My niece's hubby uses his 30-30 to whack coyotes when he is checking his herd of beef cattle. At an auction this past weekend guys paid $2.50 per round for some which to me means lots of people want it.

Yeah, I was thinking that these past few years when I'd consistently see the Federal power point and deer thugs (dumb product name) going for around $8.50 per 20rd box. That is really cheap and I wished I had bought a few hundred rounds. Very very cheap. Now, I think the last box I saw was $35/20.

I'd call Blazer Brass range ammo, but not junk.
It and PMC Bronze have been a trouble-free practice rounds for me.

Blazer Brass CCI is what Cabelas "allowed" me to buy when I bought my Kimber Micro 9. I have some 9mm ARX hp on order from Ammo Shop $19.99 for 25

I pray I am wrong but I think we are going to be in this mess for a couple of more years. I think it's only a matter of time before the Feds start placing orders for ammo.

What's sad is that this is truly where the power lies. If ammo and firearm companies would refuse to sell to Anti-2nd Amendment governments (State and Federal), imagine how quickly things would turn around. They'd still make the sales and prosper.

It’s good to see something positive but for a frugal guy like me availability is only part of the equation.

I need to see sub $15.00 fmj in 9 and .40 before I start mag dumps again.

Well Cabelas sold me the box of 9mm 50 rounds Blazer Brass for $14.99 so that tells me that if it's available the price will still be reasonable

Ozark this is what I've been saying for years if the Liberals can't stop us from buying guns because of the second they can keep us from getting ammo then our guns just become fancy expensive tack hammers

Most of the Blazer brass is FMJ, so I would call it range ammo, but there's plenty of folks out there that use FMJ in .45ACP for SD/HD and are happy. Guess it comes down to how hard up for SD/HD ammo one is. Blazer Brass ammo is different than the aluminum cased "Blazer" ammo most folks think of. The brass itself is pretty decent and it shoots fairly accurate and clean.

Indirectly related , somewhat good sign:

the 2020 “Lowest Price” maximum , $620 for 7.62x39, 1,000 rds. of Tula brand , dropped weeks ago to $499 (it’s Wolf brand, which is more popular than Tula——).

Ammoseek last night showed several distributors offering various bulk cases of these for a similar price/round.

People probably found the new Internet retail tax unacceptable.

Availability could be part of it, but the other part is people are probably just running out of money, lol. I imagine many are now way over extended on credit having splurged in panic. The flip side is there will be a whole lot of stuff showing up on the used or "new in box" market as people realize this isn't the end of the world and have to recoup some of their investment in guns.
