I'd appreciate any info/opinions/experiences anyone here can provide concerning this pistol. Are these considered good quality Hi-Power clones? How is the trigger on this pistol, and does it have the mag safety like the real Hi-Power? Finally, are the parts (especially the recoil spring, mags, and grips) interchangeable with the real Hi-Power parts? Thanks.

Well

The PJK-9HP is a true Hipower clone (not all the FEGs are).

I bought one because it was gorgeous. Phenomenal bluing. Unfortunately it was otherwise a pretty big lump of crap and became someone else's headache. Ended up needing a barrel, and trigger parts.

Triggers generally suck, but then again not a fan of Hipower triggers, even "good" ones.

While most reports are positive, but more than a few people report having to considerable work and parts replacement to make them decent.

Regular Hipower parts work in them.

If it's cheap like $200-$250, I say go for it. If it's over $300, I'd pass.

I understand that FEG is no longer in business. Yep, the PJK-9HP is an FN clone. I agree with atblis, $299 still wouldn't be cheap enough for me to take one home. If you'll shop hard, you can find a real Browning or FN HP for ~$200 more than that. That's where the smart money is. Good Luck!

Yeah, I was actually being nice about prices because some people have them and like them.

I reconsidered it, and for me to buy one, it would have to be well under $200 (like $150 or less).

Yeah, okay ya' caught me...I'm not too experienced at mamby-pamby responses either. If you stacked-up five NIB FEG HP clones (under the condition that I had to keep 'em), I wouldn't swap those five...for my rattiest BHP.

I have a FEG detecive in my box. It is the only 9mm I own. If I could find a real BHP then I might have two 9mm. Great little gun, no problems, parts interchangable with BHP.

I have owned two relatively new-production Browning HiPowers; one Belgian (blued) and one Belgian/Portuguese (poly-coated). I have also owned three FEG PJK-9HP HiPower copies, all blued.

I consider the FEGs to be just as good as my Brownings in many ways, and I will never speak poorly of them.

Yes, the FEGs had tool marks in places that the Browning did not, and some of the tooling marks in non-wear areas were pretty dramatic. And yes, the FEG finish was thinner than the Belgian. On the other hand, the exposed metal on the FEGs was polished better.

More importantly to me, the FEGs held up very well to a LOT of use (10K+ rounds each) - something that I cannot say for my Belgian Browning (which loosened up the rails vertically to the point where taking up the slack in the trigger pull caused the slide to jump visibly). The FEG sears seemed harder - they had a crisper trigger (the mag safeties were pulled from all of the pistols) and they maintained that trigger pull over their lifespan better than the Brownings. They were equal in accuracy (in my hands, at least).

About the biggest nit that I had against the FEG was that the frame machine work around the upper right grip area was not quite duplicative of the Browning pattern, and I always had to work a wee bit to fit Browning grips to the FEG.

I had very good luck (100%) with parts interchangeability between the Browning and FEG pistols, with the sole issue being the right grip fitment.

If you offered me a FEG for $300, I'd take it.

just got one

i just traded a taurus revolver in 357 i wasnt hapy with for one.. it has had the mag safty removed.. and from what i have read. greatly improves the trigger pull. dont know since i never fired it with it installed.. so far i have found it to be a pleasure to shoot and very acurate. i consider it a good trade.. since i also got a nice holster and 5 hi cap mags with it. my dad had an actual hi power and i had always wanted one of my own. but could never and still cant aford one.. so for me this is the next best thing.. i would not have any problem getting another one. the finish and fit seem very good .. it would be a toss up as to if i will cary this or my 1911 springfield when i get my CCW

Just bought my very own PJK 9HP

Just won this today on Gunbrokers. I gave $272.51 for it. Was that a good price? I was wondering if anyone could tell me a little about it for reliability, accuracy etc. The seller I got it from says he is the second owner, he said it was manufactured in 1986 and he got it in 1990. Anyway I thought it was a good looking piece and so I went for it.
