Most woman shooters are better at shooting than most men shooters. I wish more women would get into the sport.

Well, I certainly kick that theory right square in the butt. I'm a horrible shooter. I have fun, though. :)

Most gun enthusiast are horrible shooters so you're in good company.

I've had all kinds of hobbys including cycling, motorsports and shooting. The shooting folks as a group are the the most plesent and helpful by far.

The people are what make it fun for me.

Wimmin

I was just getting used to the fact that they can vote ! Now the're armed and more dangerous. What's next? Driving?? Getting a job?Lord help us. O C

Some of us are even wearing skirts that don't cover our ankles these days!!

:D

(You remind me of my friends here. Buncha knuckleheads. :))

I tried to read and participate in the women's area on one of the biggie forums. I needed duct tape for my head!!!!!!! I don't go to a gun forum to hear about their latest hair style, or getting their nails done, or the date last night. There is no need for a separate women's forum!

+1 to that, Linda.
I come to the high road because I just love guns, and it's nice to have (mostly) like minded others to chat with. The majority of my friends are not gun people, and will look at me and pretend to listen for almost a minute when I talk about guns, but then they glaze over and back away;)

If I stepped on any toes with my suggestion I apologize. One of the motorcycle boards has a "women's room" where the ladies talk about problems that are particular to women and motorcycles. I was thinking something along those lines.

Not the first bad idea I ever had. I'm sure it won't be the last. :D

No need to apologize on my part, cajun bass.
It's just that I, for one, have 'been there, and done that', and it doesn't always work out the way I think it should.
Sounds like others agree with me.

girl... woman.... female - they're not interchangeable? :neener:

I know what you guys meant though - sorry I didn't phrase it properly.

and yeah, I suppose I just don't pay attention to those things.

I'm here to talk about guns... not to pick up women. ;)

My problem with women only sections is that it sort of removes women from being "gun owners" in general. I understand women may have different requirements for equipment or whatever than men, but by creating a special category for women, you make men the gun owners by default, and women some kind of auxillary, which is what we're all trying to get past here, I think.

If I have an issue with a holster that doesn't fit right, or whatever, I'll post it in the appropriate section..because issue isn't a "woman" issue..it's a gun issue..its a holster fit problem, due to body shape. I wouldn't post on I-village or whatever there is out there about it..I'd post here. Heavy people tend to have particular issues when it comes to shooting, but I've never seen it suggested we have a Fat section or whatever. It's just incorporated into every day conversation about gear.

So that's why I'd prefer not to have a woman's only section. Not because you suggested something bad. :)

Females make better students , ask better questions, take better notes, focus better on Software than hardware, give better feedback along with other qualities than males do.

Yes I am a male, and these are MY observations, and experiences with ladies, and applicable to not only Firearms.
It does not matter age, from child to geriatric, females just flat have some things that make them "tick" that males don't have.

No preconceived notions about genetic make-up making them John Wayne's Mario Anderetti's or Don Juan's.

Barbara, I agree we do not need a ladies specific sub-forum here at THR.
Truth is, while females do have some needs that need to be addressed differently - there are often times parallel needs males have.

Hips.
Sure ladies and hips come up as a topic with holsters. Truth is, males are all different in "hips" and body shapes. Age affects males just like females.

Holsters? There are males that really could use holsters "cut to fit" their hips and other body shape concerns.

S&W Ladysmith. Just a Steel K frame - the gun itself does not know, or care it has "Lady" in its name. No more than other K frames know they are referred to as "Military & Police.

pax provides an excellent site for ladies.
Truth is, I use pax's site for me, I recommend her site to other males - along with recommending to females.

Chocolate.

Now I do not think THR needs any more sub-forums; keeps THR nice and clean. Easy to find what needed, and do searches.
We don't need sub-forums for rim-fire. We don't need sub-forums for Spirits or Cigars either, some do not drink or smoke - other forums have these sub-forums.

Chocolate now...hey *IF* THR were to ever add another sub-forum - I suggest Chocolate.

Responsible Firearm Owners, male or female, from child to geriatric - can relate to Chocolate.

Females *taught* me, a candy bar fits into a semi-auto handgun magazine carrier, Hershey Kisses fit into Speedloader pouches.

Shotguns. I shared with the females I was assisting with shotguns, bags of chocolate fits in Shell Pouches.

Now you know why I sometimes wear two shell pouches - one for chocolate, one for shells. :p

I may be dumb, I ain't stupid being the only male amongst females out on the field/ range with shotguns. :D

Bring Enough Chocolate

Bah.

women? Men? They're just fellow shooters. We're here to talk about shooting.

"there is another"

Newb delurking! As my username indicates, I love to shoot my CZ-P01. :D What isn't immediately apparent is my gender--female. When my fiance and I go to our local range, I feed my 'bad gal' the 9mm and .22lr cos he also bought me the Kadet conv. kit for happy fun cheap plinkin'!

Thanks to my guy (known here as "John Rogers"), I have the regular pleasure of also shooting his S&W 65 in .38 & .357 (very rarely cos I don't like the super-loud 'cannon explosion' effect w/the wheelgun--maybe I'd like shooting that better if we got a carbine), a beautiful .22lr Brno rifle, a Rem. 870 12 ga. shotgun (home defense), and a lovely little single-shot 20 ga. that used to belong to his older brother. I love our trips to the range--they're a BLAST. It's so empowering and fun. Can't keep *me* away from the firearms!! :p

grrr

my GF can hit things with my Yugo SKS. actually she bought it for me. I can't hit SQUAT with it, and I can regularly hit 200 250 yard soda bottles with my m39s.

when i shoot, even at TWENTY FIVE yards my SKS rounds are all over the place. she gets down on the table in some wierd position like she's firing an rpg and then.. CLANG the metal plate spins all over.

she comes here too but mostly to snicker at the long posts that i write. she says that people will think that i don't have a life. i keep clicking the refresh button until someone responds to my post and she tries to close the lid of the laptop on my fingers.

My wife is a better pistol shot than me, even though I've had a lot more practice.

But I wonder whether her mindset is tough enough to act and to kill in self-defense, if necessary. I'm naturally in condition yellow, but she, having had a very sheltered life, is too relaxed and inattentive. This worries me, as now she has a baby to distract her even more.

Perhaps we'll have to look up Pax and take some tactics classes if such exist, when we move to WA...

As in most things, the ladiies make life a lot nicer and more pleasant along with their competance. Thank you ladies, you make life for this ole man so much of a nicer journey.

My wife is a much better shot than I am, especially if you consider the difference in the time we've been shooting. She's got degenerative disk disease and has learned to mentally block out pain. That same ability allows her to block out everything but what she's doing.

Long time fighter for "Shall Issue" here in MI, survivor of shoot out in convenience store, avid PPC shooter, hunter and gun collector. Husband my partner all the way.:)

I suspect a lot of female users might be hiding behind ambiguous pseudonyms, to avoid the attention of Internet-nerd type lonely guys.

Over a thousand "views" but less than 2 pages of replies....showed the thread to my wife and she agrees with the above assessment.:)

My country needs more women, because most of them, including my partner, think that private ownership of guns,is a social statement,of male prowess,or social and sexual inadequacy.Thats how many Uk women are in this country and there are alot of women, who are opposed to guns and many are members of the GCN and Mothers Against Guns, organizations.

Sad but true,unfortunately.

My wife enjoys shooting, she setup a date at the indoor range for us, a couple of her female friends said we all need to out and do some shooting again when the weather clears up. :D

My wife enjoys shooting, but is not into reading forums, and I would think there are a lot of other wives and girlfriends out there like this. However, if one of the lady members had a question, we could ask our wives, girlfriends etc. their opinion, and post it. But if they were on a separate forum, I for one probably wouldn't be reading it, so they could be missing out on a lot of input.

Ok... I feel better now. I have always read Pax's posts with admiration. So much so that I thought I was getting a "boy crush" on my supposed male mod. I am so very relieved to discover Pax is a woman.

So results are I am not homosexual just ignorant.

Thanks for checking in ladies.... my wife is finding this thread interesting.

Chocolate now...hey *IF* THR were to ever add another sub-forum - I suggest Chocolate.

Chocolate. Hmm. Gave the wife dark chocolates for Valentinestag. It worked, too. ;)
