Females W/Guns

I hardly get offended and see nothing wrong with chicks, braods and all that. The problem with those words are the tone in which said (typically by someone walking down the street). I don't think it was meant to offend. If we wanted to get into racism I think this should then be moved to the round table or off the board. This is the high road :neener: Back to topic of females with guns.

I typically carry my Keltec when close permits and when work permits. Otherwise it's in my purse. My Ruger has begun to feel lonely sitting at home so I'll have to make sure he gets out sometime soon. Funny I have about 300 rounds for my Ruger and about 50 for my Keltec and I carry my Keltec. Oh well.

Ladysmith-nice to meet you hope you don't get shot down too much and hang around.

Spiff-we do vote :neener: :what: I tried to help win PA, but oh well. Maybe it's cause there aren't enough women voters. ;) :uhoh:

why_me-I have never been treated less than a man in a gun store. In fact I think sometimes I get better treatment, but that might also be cause I'm there alot. Other women have had other experiences. Yesterday I was in a gun store and the guy behind the counter walked past me to the another guy to help him before me, but that was because the other guy had been there much longer.

Yes! I don't know which was worse, the clerks that gave me the "little lady" attitude or the ones that spewed technical jargon at me that they knew I didn't understand (my cross-eyed glazed stare was a dead giveaway). But that hasn't happened in a while now.

My ex hailed from Mass and had drunk the coolaid, but was considering, in her due unemployment, a job as a security guard or police officer.

I got her to the range after much instruction and familiarization (Look dear, it's an inanimate object, please stop saying you're creeped out by the sight of a Heritage Arms SA .22) and surprise, she enjoyed herself, then she enjoyed herself with my CZ75. She even outshot me that day. But some things never change, and I suppose she's still anti, I don't know, I haven't spoken with her in 6 months :)

Now, my roommate, she keeps a .357 for home protection, but I haven't been able to convince her to go to the range for fun, she's too busy partying.

besides the obvious differences between men and women, one that I personally find great, I do not see why there is such a big deal of women who shoot or carry...on the whole, some of the best shots I have ever seen, are women, ya, hard to admit to some, for what reasons you choose to come up with...but true...better intensity, focus, better down range performance, don't think it matters, who is punching out the 10 ring....a good shot, is a good shot !! There are not enough in my opinion. Females have a stronger tendency to use complete sentences with proper punctuation. :) Not that we guys don't, just not as much. ;)

My wife gets upset if I read my gun magazines before she does. She shoots 5 times more than I do. She is eat up with shooting and guns! When we met 30 years ago, she was afraid of them and wouldn't touch them...Guess I cured her too well!!! She would rather help me clean out the gun safe than go to any mall...come to think of it...she seems to think my gun safe is the mall!!!
We have a great time together shooting. Couldn't ask for better!

:)

I'm glad you saw the offensiveness of my post, though I'm sorry you were offended.

All I did was translate chauvinism (culturally acceptable around here) into racism (culturally unacceptable around here).

If this translation offends anyone, I beg you all to remember that some of us at the receiving end find them both equally offensive.

Everyone,

My favorite magazine for women involved in the shooting sports is Women and Guns magazine. It's got a good balance between different types of shooting, and the articles cover both the basics and more advanced topics. It's put out by the Second Amendment Foundation, the same folks who publish Gun Week.

Apart from the NRA's Woman's Outlook, are there any other magazines out there expressly for women who shoot?

I declare to you that woman must not depend upon the protection of man, but must be taught to protect herself, and there I take my stand. -- Susan B. Anthony

My own personal take on one part of the divide between *masculine and feminine minds* is that it seems that masculine minds tend to have a greater interest in the "coolness factor" of the "Tools & Technologies" aspect of firearms than the feminine. As an example, my wife has no feelings whatsover about guns. To her they are a tool for self defense (or whatever else). I however, get totally geeked out about a really pretty gun while my wife does the

*I'd like to note that by "masculine and feminine minds" I don't mean male or female chromosomes, and I don't place character value judgements on people as to where they fall on the spectrum regardless of their sex. I'm a study in contradictions on the traits myself. I enjoy shooting, enjoy watching martial artists beat each other bloody and equally enjoy watching hummingbirds, cooking and gardening.

My daughter enjoys frilly pink dresses, barbie dolls, lighting fires and shooting.

There is one thing that I find interesting about women @ the shooting range.
(besides that there aren't enough of them that is)

That is it seems to me that a guy will approach another guy to look @ his gun, chat, maybe shoot it.You know, generally BS a bit.

The women I've seen,w/ or w/o a guy, seem to never be approached.I haven't seem a woman approach anyone else either.Whether they are good shots or are just "making patterns" like the rest of us.I know that I don't approach, don't say hi,because I don't want to be judged to be hitting on her.Ya know?It seems unfortunate that the range is gender specific. It seems like there is a bubble around a woman @ the range.

Way to go ladies. Yes I carry all the time and I do just becasue I like to be able to protect my son as well as myself. I may not know everything there is to know about guns but I do enjoy shooting as much as I can.

I love to go to the gun shop and range with my husband cause I like to see whats new and what kind of new ammo they care comming out with.

I am also pro 2nd ammendment and I have had relatives come into my home and tell me I am crazy for carrrying a gun. I just look at them sqaure in the eye and ask them if thier broom is gonna protect them from a wood be rapist or murder?

41mag...the day is what you make of it, I understand what your saying, all man / woman exchanges arn't a "hit" of some sort, if there is an interest in her gun, or question ask !!! if it is taken the wrong way, by anyone...who cares !!!! Arc-Lite

horse pockey!!! if that were true, why would all the chicks that reject us say "its not you, its me...."?
Because the rest of the sentence is, "... because my standards are like, way higher than you Alaskan guys could live up to" ?

41mag,

I know that I don't approach, don't say hi,because I don't want to be judged to be hitting on her.

Gosh, I'm sorry... :(

Folks that have had the unmitigated gall to walk up and chat me up on the range have had the chance to learn about and shoot some cool guns that they might never have had a chance to touch otherwise, including an SSG82, a Beretta AR-70, a Mateba Unica 6, an H&K P7M8, a Springfield Professional, a Les Baer Concept III, a stainless Delta Elite, a 3" 625 in .45 Colt, a PC13, and many others. I still remember the guy who was shooting on the next lane over at Coal Creek Armory (nee Guncraft) who chatted me up, and was asked in return "Hey, have you ever shot an Italian semiautomatic revolver? Would you like to?"

Give it a try sometime. We don't bite, you know...

Spiff ~

Just playing with you. Sorry if it was too rough.

What ya need to do, spiff, is make yourself look as much like this guy as possible, then hang around the airport:

Wow. 41mag - we must really have two disparate experiences. I've always found women at the range entirely approachable and often more fun to shoot with.

Guess I give off some "non-threatening married guy pheromone".
