Might be old news to some, but recently I became aware that ATF rules now permit a copy of an FFL to be faxed, as opposed to a requireing a signed copy to be mailed.
Hey, more quicker, more gooder huh? :)

Exactly! Many shoppers are finding that their dealers won't accept/send faxes as they have never heard about this. Of course, if they would actually READ the monthly FFL Newsletters they'd know but who has time (it's a few pages at most!)????

Take Care,
Mike

BTW - the ATF website also has a section on this for those dealers not willing to take a 'mere' customer's word for it. E-mailing FFL's IS prohibited.

Right now I do not take faxes. When I buy a new machine that will work well enough I might. The License numbers are in a black strip. My fax will not show the numbers clear and it is not important enough to upgrade for. I do not see this fax thing getting popular until the ATF changes the format to a fax friendly License.

When I get a customer that is way to anxious to wait for the gun it puts me in a bad position. I have to make a gut decision on a person that I do not know. Is this person in a hurry because they are not right, do they intend to do bad, or do they just want to try out the new toy.

to expound:

ATF did a training seminar recently that i and Waterhouse attended. someone asked about scanning it is a .jpg or similar image and emailing it instead of faxing it for clarity reasons.

the ATF said that the ruling specifically allows faxes only, so email was not yet authorized.

My fax will not show the numbers clear

Are they clear enough for you to verify using the EZ check on the ATF website?

If so, check it, print it out and save the faxed copy with the printout as a CYA measure.
